The door creaks as it opens, I enhale a sharp breath. I'm not sure why I'm so nervous, no one will even notice me.
Boy was I wrong. The moment that I stepped foot outside the threshold, my heels clicking at my arrival, the room is instantly quiet. I brace myself for a fit of laughter to erupt but instead I earn a few gasps from everyone and let me tell you there is quite a lot of people down there.
I act like I don't notice the sudden silence and slowly make my way down the stairs. I, admittedly make a grave mistake and gaze over the room to see who is down there. My eyes freeze when I see Draco and so do my feet. His hair is neatly sorted out and he's wearing a black tuxedo with a white shirt underneath and a boe tie. At the pocket of the tuxedo jacket, is a green handkerchief that hangs out and almost fits the colour of my dress perfectly. We lock eyes and even I can't deny seeing a fire erupt in his eyes like he just saw something he's been craving for, for years on end. His mouth hangs slightly open and I chuckle under my breath, knowing that I stunned him. I told him I wasn't going. I told everyone I wasn't going. It's a shock for me as well. I try not to linger to long at the staircase, I pier my eyes away from him and continue walking down the staircase like nothing happened. But something did happen. I jogged an emotion out of him and only I got to see it. My heart is burning, jumping in my chest uneasy. I want to feel the texture of his tux, every brush stroke on his hair, his cheeks as his mouth falls open in schock like it did just moments ago. I take a breath.
The door slams open when I reach the bottom of the staircase and I look up to see that it's Steven, also tucked into a tux.
"Guys the dance already started, you can come to the hall now- Wow." Steven cuts himself off mid sentence as our eyes meet. His gaze travels down my body. "Y/n." He walks towards me. "You look beautiful." He says astonished.
I look up at him and smile, not letting the pressure get to me. "Thank you Steven. You look quite good yourself." I say. He doesn't look bad, but he doesn't compare to how Draco looks. Draco looks breathtaking, he looks like he jumped out of a book. He looks like he can set the world on fire with just one look.
I briefly see behind Steven, Draco stomping out of the room. I wonder what pissed him so off.
"Y/n, you look fantastic!" Ruby comes up beside Steven as the rest of the students start to file out of the room and make their ways towards the hall.
"You too Ruby. Thank you, really." I give her a warm smile and she jumps out of the room probably to find her date.
"So", I say as Steven and I start to walk out too," I trust you found a date to the dance."
He laugh. "Quite the opposite actually", He says," She found me."
"Oh?" I look up at him in curiosity," Who is it?"
"You." He says with a straight face.
"Steven I- I really do hope you have a better plan than that."
He burst into a fit of laughter. "Yes. I was just kidding. It's actually Stacey."
I sigh in relief. She's a kind girl, a girl I think is quite fitting for Steven.
"Well go get your girl." I say.
He says his goodbyes to me and runs down the hallway to go get Stacey. I smile as he runs down the hallway, relief washing over my body that someone so kind found a girl that makes him sprint down the halls just to get to her.
