Slater shakes his head at the memory of his family that day, the only thing that saved him from being killed was the fact that he had run off in childish anger, a temper tantrum had saved his life.

He has often wondered over the years if was lucky to be alive or unlucky that he wasn't there to at least try to save his lost loved ones from death.

But then he was just a young kit when all of that happened,
he was found curled up beside a dead beastman.  The village chief found him days later, the smell of death and decay had drifted on the wind and the Beastmen had scented it while they were out hunting.

The chief found a little fox kit lying next to the corpses of a lot of Beastmen.

The stench was accompanied by the nasty odor of feral Beastmen.

The Chief immediately knew what had probably happened.

He sent out a few of his best warriors to hunt down the ferals and kill them.

He then took the small traumatized kit to his village and put him with the village healer and his female.

There he finally was able to better handle the trauma of everything that he had seen and experienced.

He was able to learn from the experience and he started to train as a healer, he also trained to be a warrior so as to protect himself and if he was ever blessed by the Beast goddess to have a female and kits of his own, he wouldn't have to worry about history repeating itself.

He then stuck close by home and rarely traveled anywhere new.

Until now his life has been monotonous and he was happy to live in the same place and only travel when he wanted to, or had to.

The constant traveling with his family was why his family was killed, at least that was what his childish thoughts came up with. In his mind his family died because of all the traveling, so he thought staying home would be so much safer.

When he finally was old enough to understand what the real reason was for his family dying, he was already set in his ways.

Well he wasn't home now and this strange pull was driving him crazy.

So here he was lost and still following the strange pull.
It was strange to him how he became hyper focused into this pull and completely oblivious to where he was and his surroundings.

That is until he stopped to figure out what direction he would need to go next to solve the mystery of the pull.

Now here he is stuck staring out at a valley with Beastmen he never knew was here and once he got his bearings he realized how close to his village he actually was.

He scented the air and was going to turn back around and leave but the pull was so strong here that he stood there frozen in indecisive thought.

A faint sweetness perfumed
the air and he snapped his head up and looked to where the scent was drifting in the direction the wind was coming from.

In all of his 25 turns he had never smelled anything like it.
He wasn't too worried about the Beastmen he was soon surrounded by, he was after all a 6 mark Beastman and he was sure if it came down to it he could hold his own.

He looked around again and scented that sweet scent.
He came out of the cave and into the valley, there was a slight push to get through the opening but it wasn't too bad, just a little strange.

He put that thought aside as he followed the enticing scent and the strange pull.

As he advanced through the valley he took his time looking around and finding his way to whatever was drawing him.

He was just going to find out what was going on and he had every intention of sating his curiosity and then he would find his way back home.

After all he had found most of what he needed and he could always come out another time to find what he was lacking.

A beautiful tinkling sound had his ears perking up and he followed the musical sound.

Another small mystery for him to solve it seemed. He was collecting quite a few little mysteries to solve this day.

By the time he reached where the pull and scent were coming from it had gotten dark, his eyes shine in the moonlight and his vision is perfect.

There was a large grouping of huts with a good sized river running behind the huts to the mountain side and through what he was guessing was another cave system.

The river wasn't moving all that fast so it was easy to cross with the current gently moving slowly along.

He finally made his way to what he thought had to be the chief of the tribes chief 's home because of the fact that it was large and extended into the side of the mountain.

He walks over to the hut-like door and knocks a few times against the wooden covering.

As he hadn't gotten an answer he again raised his fist to knock as the covering was pulled back and he was looking at an empty space.

Puzzled he goes to take a step when he hears a musical sounding giggle.

He abruptly looks down and sees a short female standing there with her hand covering her mouth and her eyes dancing with mirth.

Her shoulders shake as she giggles while she has her head tilted backwards in order to look up at him.

She giggles once more before she gets control of herself enough to politely invite him into her home.

He stares at her in disbelief as she walks further into the home, he clears his throat to get her attention, she turns and looks back at him over her shoulder and motions for him to follow her.

He shakes his head and stays stood just outside the opening, he asks politely  "Female may I speak with one of your males please?"

She smiles and says " Of course you may Slater."

Slater looks at her with his eyebrows raised in surprise.
He never told her his name how could she possibly know it he wonders.

She tilts her head in thought, " I was at one time considered a Queen of our Beastworld, I am also the daughter of the beast deity."

"Some have called me Queen, some have called me the Beast Goddess. Actually I am not the Beast Goddess. But Slater you can call me Genisis."
She smiles at him.

"My Oldest Daughter also has had titles one of which is"the chosen one", another is the beast Goddess ".

"All of our kits were at one time long ago considered royalty, now we simply are a family and even though we still have our gifts and powers we don't need to be worshipped or any reverence shown."  She says this with a gentle smile.

She places a finger on her lip and starts to gently nibble on it as she looks him over in scrutiny.

"Ahh, you are here for Nixie aren't you Slater?" She asks with a knowing grin.

He just looks at her with confusion, "I'm sorry but, Who?"

With a secretive look she asks him" Tell me, did you follow a strange but strong pull here, was there a enticing scent blowing on the breeze when you got closer to our little valley?"

He is surprised, he just nods back at her, he can't find the words to articulate his feelings and thoughts.

She said "It is a pull that brings worthy males to our valley to possibly become a mate to Nixie, She has lost two of her males to war, her remaining male is a great protector and father, but he is only one male, Nixie feels the need to have more males to love and have more kits with, she wishes to expand her family by mating worthy males." Genisis looks a little sad as she explains the loss to Slater.

" There is a guest hut just there, by the river, you may make use of it overnight and decide after waking up what you would like to do.". Genisis says and turns once more to walk away.

"Decide?.... Decide what?"
Slater says with confusion.
