Joel's Perspective-

Two Years Later-

I sighed as I slammed the trunk shut.

"Bye Joel, see you later." fWhip said, fist bumping me.

"Hopefully." I said, smiling a bit.

"I'm sure we will." He said.

"Where are you going again?" Sausage asked.

"Driving down to Florida."

"Why not stay here in New Jersey?" He asked.

I shrugged, "The beaches seem nicer there. And you know how much I like to sail. And plus, I'll be staying with my cousin Skizz. I miss hanging out with him."

"And besides," I said, looking up at my truck which had my boat hitched to it, "me and Etho always wanted to move there."

fWhip and Sausage smiled sympathetically and patted my back.

"It'll be okay." fWhip said.

I smiled and hugged them both.

"Thanks."

Just then, a minivan drove up and Jimmy ran out.

"Joel!" He shouted, hugging me.

I grunted before chuckling and patting his head.

"Hey kid!"

"I was so worried that you would've left without me being able to say goodbye." Jimmy said.

I smiled, "Course not!"

Jimmy smiled back.

"Thank you for everything you helped me with." He said, "I...it's really helped me be at peace with Tango's death."

I ruffled Jimmy's hair.

"Good. And know that when those bad days come back, you can make it through, and that Tango still loves you."

Jimmy nodded.

"Oh, and I have a present for you." I said, opening the door to my truck.

"Really?"

I pulled out a leather jacket that was identical to mine.

Jimmy's smile widened as he threw it on.

"Thanks Joel."

"Course kid. Everything'll work out, you just gotta keep on going."

An alarm went off on my phone and I jumped.

"Ah shoot. I should get going."

Everyone said goodbye to me as I got in my truck and drove off.

I stuck my hand out of the window and waved goodbye before turning the corner and disappearing.

I turned on the radio and started drumming my hands on the steering wheel as I got on the interstate.

"You ready, Etho?" I asked, glancing at the picture of me and him that I had in my truck.

Of course, there was no response.

"I miss you, Etho. I- I really wish we could've lived our dreams together. But I'm doing this for us. Partly for me, but mostly for us."

I looked at my boat in the rearview mirror and smiled.

"Boat Boys forever." I whispered.

I love you.

Hey thanks for reading this little Boat Boys story, hope you enjoyed. Uh- sorry it was kinda messy, this story was rushed through and I didn't really care about it after a while. The only reason The Night That Changed My Life existed was because back in 2023 I just wanted to write a story with angst. now my stuff will be more balanced. Cool? Cool

Keep being amazing and kicking ass
