Outer Banks, The Wreck July 21st, 2020 6:33pm
After surfing with Kiara for most of the afternoon, we both decided to join the boys at the Wreck, where they spent most of their time when outside was too warm and they wanted free fresh drinks. Kiara was the sweetest friend on Earth, she could listen to her friends talking about their problems for hours without getting bored, spend hours surfing with me when she knew times were tough, but also beg her father to feed us when we were starving.
Even though I had been lucky enough to eat several times at the Country Club since the chef often gave us food when our shifts ended, I had never tasted anything better than Mike Carrera's food. The food at the Wreck was delicious, which explained why it was always crowded. If there was really one thing on which Pogues and Kooks agreed, it was on the Wreck's food.
We joined our friends inside after leaving our surfboards on the side, waving at them proudly. Surfing helped me unleashing my anger and relaxing, which was needed. We approached Kiara's dad, who was smiling warmly too, and he pulled his daughter into a tight hug, making her roll her eyes almost immediately.
"Dad- not in front of- dad!" she groaned, before they both laughed.
"Margot, I'm so happy to see you! It's been a while since we've last seen you here," he stated, which was true.
"Yeah, I've been busy working. Can't say that I am now," I stated and Kiara laughed.
"JJ told me what happened to you. How can they fire someone like you?" sighed as he spoke to me. "But it's your lucky day, I just lost a waiter, so I really need you right now"
My heart dropped at his words, relief and joy filling me up instantly, making my lips curve in a frank smile. Kiara pulled me in a hug and we both chuckled, before I thanked her dad at least a thousand times. Before we joined the others, he told me I'd start on the next day, but for now I could enjoy my evening with my friends.
When we joined the boys, but apparently they already knew the news, since they clapped in their hands and cheered loudly, making Kiara and I blush since the whole room stared at us. We sat down with them and Kiara brought us more food, to satisfy our hunger since surfing always made us really hungry. "Kie, have I ever told you you're the girl I want to marry?" JJ asked as she brought us some fries and crab.
"Shut up!" she giggled.
The restaurant remained crowded for lasting hours, people enjoying their meal, laughing loudly, drinking beers. We did pretty much the same, remembering old stories that always made us burst into laughter. The Pogues and I had gone through a lot of different situations together, but somehow even the worst ones always made us laugh when we looked back at it.
"Remember that abandoned house near the beach we always believed was haunted?" Pope chuckled, before chugging water, since he barely drank alcohol.
