Chapter thirteen - can of coffee

Last night I slept better than I ever had. It was like a weight lifted off my shoulders. Today, I was happy, so I had some motivation to take care of myself.

I put on some low rise loose flared jeans, a baby tee, a studded belt, and a black zip-up jacket. I paired it with my classic white converse and did my makeup. Just a basic look with some eyeliner for flare. My hair wasn't that bad but I gave it a little brush-through and I was ready to go.

The only thing was, my dad had left early again. Shit.

I grabbed a donut and a can of coffee from the fridge for while I waited. Matt sent me a message saying he was here so I went out.

Chris sat in the back seat giggling. It was really unusual seeing as he always sat in the front.

"What's going on? Chris what are you doing?" I ask confused, getting into the empty passenger seat. "He's being weird as fuck. I have no idea" Matt rolled his eyes. I looked to Nick for an explanation but he just shook his head and tried not to laugh. I gave up on trying to find out what he was doing and sighed.

"Just thought you'd wanna sit next to your date" Chris giggles. Matt and I both turn around to look at him. We start talking over each other and Chris gives a smile of satisfaction. "They're so cute" Nick whispers to him. "For real" Chris chuckles back, still watching Matt and I bicker.

Matt slaps them both and starts the car. I flip them both off and that seemed to make them laugh more. Ha ha ha. Soooo funny.

"You look better than usual today. Did something change?" Matt said to me. "I look better because I'm wearing makeup? Wow Matthew. You're so sweet" I give him a dirty look. "Not like that Vivi. But like...you look happier and more put together" he recovered. Vivi. Her dad's words had made her overthink the whole nickname situation. So stupid. It's just a nickname.

"Oh my gosh! I don't tell you guys! Chris distracted me with his dumb shit" I say to get everyone's attention in the car. Chris rolled his eyes but let me continue. "Peyton's okay! She posted on instagram that she was okay. She deleted all of her socials and is changing her number so I'm not exactly sure how to contact her but she's okay" I smile.

The boys all got excited and were relieved for me. "That's amazing Viv! Thank god!" Chris said giving me a hug as best as he could from the backseat. "Ahh that's awesome!" Nick cheered. It was a really great moment.

We arrived at school and all got out of the van. We didn't have time to hang out outside today so we all went straight inside to our homerooms.

I made conversation with the people sat around me and Matt did the same. The teacher walked in and did his daily spiel and let us talk for the rest of the time before the bell.

I felt a light tap on my shoulder and saw it was the girl who sat next to me. "Hey I'm so sorry but do you think you could switch with her?" She said pointing to the girl sitting next to Matt. "Oh yeah of course" I say grabbing my bag and getting up. I switch with the girl and sit next to Matt.

"Oh hi" he said looking up from his phone. "You switched?"

"Yeah. They wanted to" I pointed to the girls in front of us.
