It was 5:43 pm. I had gotten ready for what Matt told me we were doing. Well, he would tell me where we were going. He just said to look nice so I did just that.I nervously waited on the couch for Matt to arrive. I told my dad that I wouldn't be home for dinner and he was fine with it.
I got a text from Matt saying he was out front, so I grabbed my bag and walked out, yelling goodbye to Peyton who was sitting in her room.
I get in the van and am greeted with a hug and kiss.
"Hey" he says with his lips still on mine.
"Hi Matt" I say pulling away from him. "Oh you've got a little something right there" I say, pointing to the lipstick I left on his upper lip.
"You look beautiful" he smiles.
"So do you" I giggle, while wiping the lipstick off of him.
"Well I don't anymore" he gasps pretending to be angry about me removing it.
"No" I scoff, "you're still beautiful Matt, even without all that makeup"
"Thank you" he smiles. "You ready to go?"
"Mhm" I smile.
"Let's go then" he drives to a busier part of the city and turns down a main road. He pulls into a restaurant parking lot and walks inside.
"Hi welcome to The Food Emporium! How many?" The hostess asks.
"Two please" Matt says.
"Okay, that will be a twenty minute wait, please put your name and phone number down here, you can wait in your car and we will send a text when it's your turn to be seated" the young woman smiled.
"Alright" he says, writing his information down on the sheet. "Let's go"
We walk back out to the car and sit inside.
"What do you wanna do while we wait?" I ask.
"We should..." he thinks, "aggressively make out right here" he laughs. I know he was joking but I think a part of him was hoping I'd agree.
"Matt!" I laugh and smack his hand. "While I would love to, we're in a crowded parking lot and I don't wanna ruin my makeup"
"That's the only reason?" he smirks.
"I mean, yeah I guess so" I shrug and raise my eyebrows.
"Good to know" he chuckles.
We sit and chat for the remainder of the twenty minutes until Matt receives a text that our table is ready.
We walk in and get seated. And the waiter asks for our drinks.
"For the lady?"
"Uhm, I'll get a Diet Pepsi"
"Great choice, and for the gentleman?"
"Rootbeer please"
"Alright, coming right up" he walks away behind the counter.
He brings out our cups and asks us if we're ready to order.
"Uh, not yet. Thank you for the drinks though" Matt nodded and the waiter nods back.
