Matt's POV

I was talking to Vivianne in homeroom. Last night a made a pretty bold move. I'm not sure she knows this but I have a bit of a crush on her. Today she isn't really acknowledging the
cheek-kiss but I guess that's a good thing..? It could have gone horribly wrong. I still don't think she feels the same though. It's just a silly crush, I'll get over it soon enough.

I noticed the way that she would touch my hands when she laughs. Every time she did it gave me instant butterflies.

Mr Winston walked in to start talking and giving us the daily school news. I zoned out, remembering prom night. I had remembered sitting in the rain with her, after our fight. We made up quicker than I expected. I remembered the sweet moment we had before Nick and Chris came running out. I wanted to kiss her. I had finally, after months of building up the courage, tried to make a move. Of course with my luck though, it was interrupted. I'm a bit relieved because looking back, I'm not sure if she would have reciprocated.

I zoned back in when Vivianne tapped me on the shoulder. She nodded her head toward the teacher who's a looking at me.

"Matt? Did you hear me?" The teacher asked.

"Uhh no sorry. Can you repeat that" I said sheepishly.

"Can you please read the paragraph on the board"

"Uhh" I hesitated. I hated reading aloud. "S-sure"

The teacher zoomed in on the words so I could read from the back of the class. I started to read, stuttering and messing up my words a bit. I heard quiet giggles coming from a few kids from the class. It just made me more nervous. I started twirling my ring like I always did when I got this way. It helped a bit, but not enough.

Suddenly, I felt at ease. I glanced down to see Vivianne holding my hand. I glanced at her a she gives me a small smile. I finished reading the paragraph and let out a relieved sigh.

"Thank you Matt" the teacher nodded, moving to the next slide.

I looked at Vivianne and gave her a nod and a 'thank you squeeze' which she reciprocated both of. Our hands didn't part until the bell rang. I walked her to her next class and then walked to my own.

I got in class and sat down next to Nate. I gave him an update about how I'm feeling at the moment and asked for advice.

"Keeping it a secret isn't doing you any good, just tell her" he shrugs.

"It's not that simple Nate" I tell him.

"It is Matt. She likes you back. I can tell" he takes a chip out of his bag and eats it.

"You're lying. Stop trying to give me false hope"

"I would lie to you Matt. Not about this anyway. I'm telling you to tell her. Trust me, I see it"

"Fine. I'll consider it. I'm getting a second opinion first"

"Whoever you ask will tell you the same thing"

"Mhm" I say turning away from him, still unsure.

I wait until my seventh period to talk to Nick. It's been killing me all day.

"Matt. Stop being such a bitch. She likes you back. And even if she doesn't, which isn't true, what's the worst that could happen"

"I'd ruin our friendship"

"I doubt you that would happen. But then again, I doubt she'll reject you. Everyone in the group can tell except for you. Just fucking do it"
