The hours of the following day came and went quickly as the seconds ticked by until your scheduled meet-up with Higuchi.

Mogi took over Matsuda's place as your manager. And after leaving the movie set, he walked you over to the hospital across the street so that you could 'use the restroom', as you told him.

You knocked on the third stall, and a girl who you were acquainted with came out. She was your stunt double for the movie you were filming, and luckily for you, she owed you a favor.

"Hey, are you ready?" You asked her.

"Yeah, give me your outfit when you're done".

The plan was to switch clothes, parent trap style, and hope no one notices long enough for you to make your escape. You walked out of the bathroom with a new wardrobe, a disguise of sorts, and inconspicuously walked past Mogi. You hastily exited the hospital and Higuchi was parked off the side just as expected.

As you entered his car, you turned off your personal and work phones, you needed not to be distracted. Today will be a moment in history; the day the dreaded "Kira" would be unmasked, and Light could finally be freed of suspicion.

Higuchi drove off and you both remained quiet for quite some time. The atmosphere in the car grew thick, making it difficult to breathe. You felt your anxiety build and your heart pounding out of your chest. Soon enough he pulls off into a secluded area, parking the car.

"Hatori is dead, y'know?" He breaks the silence.

"Oh, is he now?" You reply, fidgeting nervously.

Another wave of silence creeps over.

"So, uh," Higuchi speaks again, "now that I've proved that I'm Kira, will you marry me?"

"Hm," you hum aloud. "Sorry, but I'm still not convinced that you're Kira, and I would know what it takes because I'm the second Kira".

"Liar," he scoffs at you, "Everyone knows Misa Amane was the second Kira and that she's incarcerated at the moment".

"Maybe, I framed her," you smirk.

"You?" He belittled your intelligence, "Ha! No way!"

"How should we prove it to each other then?" You ask, hoping he suggests what you had intended.

"Did you bring your notebook?" The man asked.

Your eyes quickly darted in his direction then toward your bag, "Did you bring yours?" You mirrored his question.

He reached over you, opening the passenger-side glove compartment. He pulled out your old death note and the ghost of a smile crept onto your face at the sight of it.

"Can I touch it?" You hesitantly asked him.

"Not until you show me yours, Doll," He told you with a sickening smile, his perverse eyes glazing over you.

How dare he look at me with those eyes

Acting is your profession, so an actress you would be. You bare your teeth at him, a fake smile sat perfectly on your face as you reached into your purse to pull out your own notebook.

"Here," you announced, holding it in both of your hands for him to look at.  "Do you mind if I hold yours now?" You ask impatiently.

"Yeah, yeah," he rolled his eyes, quickly trading his book for yours. As you took the note into your hands, an old presence made a reappearance in your peripheral vision.

"Hello Rem," You spoke to the apparition in the back seat of the car.

"Greetings Y/n," She replied to you, "It's been quite some time since we last spoke".
