Author's note: Hey beautiful people! This is the chapter we've all been waiting for. It's also the longest chapter I've written for this fic thus far so be prepared.
Much love,

He tossed and turned in his sleep after spending hours upon hours not being able to. A familiar sound played in the background of his dream; it was the sound of children. Children laughing and children crying. He knew he had seen this before, it was a memory that always seemed to resurface every once in a while, one he tried to push to the back of his mind.
A terribly cold snow fell to the ground as he looked up at his elderly caretaker who smiled down at him. He watched as the man mouthed words to him. He squinted trying to make out what he was saying. He was positive the words were reassuring, but he wouldn't know; the bells were too loud.
GONG!
GONG!
GONG!
GONG!
The detective jolted awake, cold and frightened. He winced and held his head, he's always seemed to have an ever-lingering headache. It's never truly gone away, the pain is only ever intensified or dulled, and this morning it was intense.
He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to remember his dream, but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't seem to. Then he heard it,
Gong!
Gong!
Gong!
"Ah, that's right..." he thought, "the bells, it always seems to be the bells."
He looked out his window to the right of him. The day was dark and the rain was heavy, it seemed to never stop falling. And even though the rain was loud, the bells were even louder.
"Where is that sound coming from?" L wondered.
He lept out of bed to find the noise. His bare feet repeatedly slap against the cold tiles as he walks through the hallways of the building he designed. He rubbed his eyes and listened for that sound.
Gong!
Gong!
Gong!
He trudged up the stairwell leading to the roof as he continued listening for the sounds of the bells. He pushed open the heavy door leading to the rooftop and walked into the rain. It was a cold rain, the kind that stung the skin when impact was reached. But even though the rain felt harsh, he continued to stand out in the wetness anyway; letting the droplets trickle down his face, and scalp, and soak his clothes.
He looked up at the sky and let the rain hit his features. What did this mean? The bells were so loud, it didn't make any sense. He continued to stare up into the gloomy and infinite sky.
~
Slamming the door, you ran inside from the limousine to avoid the rain. You entered task force headquarters to be met with silence. The only sound that could be heard was the rain outside and the electronic whirring coming from the computers.
"Hello," you called out, "is anyone here?"
You're responded to by the echo of your voice.
That's funny... usually, someone is always here...
You take an elevator to the 14th level, it's the floor above your personal floor and it holds the bedrooms for everyone else on the task force. You walk down the corridor to Light's room and knock on the door.
