Chapter 05: everything has changed

---

I woke up to the scorching sunlight that had slipped through the window; with difficulty, I turned my head to see Vicky peacefully sleeping in her pink bed... so calm and at ease.

I still don't understand why this girl loves the color pink despite being a werewolf. Don't you think it's strange?

Of course it is... but it's Vicky, and everything is expected from her.

It was a new day... a new morning different from the others. A few days ago, every day seemed the same to me... but now everything is different.

After learning the truths about Darlan Down, everything had changed.

I gathered my lost strength with difficulty and got out of bed, adjusting my hair as I headed towards the bathroom.

The same headache I've been feeling for months returned this morning, but some things had changed... for example, my knowledge about the headache.

Yes, it's just transformation symptoms.

I leaned my palms against the bathroom sink and stared at my reflection in the mirror for a long time... a second... two seconds... Time kept moving forward, and the headache hadn't disappeared yet. I became a little tense and sat in the corner after losing my balance for a moment. My legs could no longer support me; my joints were trembling, and my breathing became increasingly ragged.

I pressed my palms forcefully against my head, hoping the headache would go away like it always did, but to no avail. This time, it didn't disappear after many seconds. Why did the symptoms have to be this severe?

Suddenly, a scream escaped my lips from the pain. I could no longer see things or the place; my breathing was erratic.

In response to my scream, I heard Vicky running down the hallway, calling my name in panic. I felt her presence beside me, but I couldn't see her due to my pitiful state.

_ Don't worry, Mary, it will pass soon.

I heard her frightened voice as she patted my back from behind.

_ No... it... hasn't... gone.

I spoke with difficulty, and she was still beside me, urging me to be patient, which I had run out of. After another minute, the headache suddenly disappeared as usual. I then looked at Vicky, who was in a similar condition to mine, and adjusted my hair, which I had messed up from pressing my head.

_ Are you okay? she asked softly, gazing at me kindly.

_ I think so.

_ Okay, it seems that the headache was worse this time.

She said, still sitting beside me in the corner of the room. I then struggled to stand up, and she didn't hesitate to help me get up.

_ Yes, I think it was, I said in a shaky tone.

_ Do you want to go outside for some fresh air before the boring formalities start?

I furrowed my brows in confusion as I looked at her.

_ Formalities?
