"Serenity," Jason's mom sounded like she was...crying?

No...

Crying was not a good sign.

"Don't worry, Jason's going to be okay. The doctors say that it's a miracle he's alive. And he's going to be just fine. And I believe it. I believe that God worked a miracle today." So she was crying. Tears of joy.

I let out the breath that I had been holding in. "Oh, thank goodness." I breathed.

She continued. "The doctors say that he was barely holding on. Fighting for his life. And hardly even breathing on his own. But they took tests about an hour ago and Jason's condition has changed drastically. He's doing so much better now. And the doctor said that he'll be out in only a few days. He needs time to fully recover still."

Then I remembered. She said that Jason's condition had changed...about an hour ago. That was when I had cried out, asking Jason's God to heal him. It had worked.

I closed my eyes. "Thank you so much for calling." I paused. "Are visitors allowed? C-can I see him?"

"Unfortunately, no. Only family members are allowed."

"Oh...then...can you tell me how he's doing?"

"Well, he's awake now. He's still weak and in some pain. But he keeps calling for you."

"He-he's calling for...me?"

"Yes. And when he first woke up, a little less than an hour ago, he wasn't in his right mind. And when the doctors told him only family members were allowed to come in, he started yelling at them. He even threatened one of them. But he's calmed down now and he's back to normal - thinking straight again. But he still keeps calling for you with such a longing look in his eyes. He never stops asking for you."

Tears filled my eyes. Jason almost died and he was asking for me, even in the midst of his pain. "Do you think that maybe the doctors would...make an acceptation for me? So that I could see him?"

She sighed. "The doctors are very strict at this hospital. No acceptations. But don't worry. He'll be out in a few days and then you'll be able to see him."

"Okay..." I was upset that I wasn't allowed to see him yet. But it didn't matter. As long as he was okay. He was going to live. I was so relieved.

"What injuries did he suffer?" I asked after a while.

"Well, it's mostly chest pain that he's having. And he took a pretty hard blow to the head. But most of his injuries have healed completely. It truly is a miracle."

"I-I don't know what to say."

"Just thank the Lord."

I was quiet a minute, and then, I said. "Is there anything that you need? Maybe I can help you with something?"

"Well...I hate to ask but would you mind watching the kids again for me? We are going to be staying here at the hospital for quite a while still, but I have to go to the store real quick and pick up some things. Mostly just something to eat for the kids. They're getting hungry. But I can't leave them here and I can't really shop with them at my heel. If you could come over to the hospital and just watch them here in the waiting room, it would be such a blessing. And I'll pay you."

"No payment needed. I'd be glad to watch them."

"Thank you so much."

"No problem."

After hanging up, I set the phone down beside me.

I let out a long breath.

Jason was okay.
