Draco's Pov
I was in disbelief as I heard Harry turn the handle. I all of a sudden felt nervous as I watched as he stepped into the room. I hadn't really expected this to work. I quickly ran a hand through my hair and got up from my seat on the table. I took a moment to clear my throat before I started speaking.
"Hello, P– Harry," I corrected myself, "I wanted to talk to you for a moment," I explained.
"About what?" He asked, looking very confused.
"Well," I started, taking a deep breath, "I wanted to say that I appreciate you keeping me from getting caught. Also for helping me calm down when I started to panic," I added while choking down my pride.
"It's really no problem, Draco." He replied awkwardly.
He had done it again. He had called me my first name. I didn't know why but whenever he said it something inside of me ignited. It was the strangest feeling. I had never felt anything like it before. I had felt my face heating up as he said it, but quickly turned my focus back on setting my plan into motion.
"I was also wondering," I began, "If we could try to start over," I breathed.
"You- want to be friends...?" He asked hesitantly while tilting his head slightly.
"Yeah I guess so," I mumbled.
He gave me a hesitant look. As if he was thinking it over. Rightfully so, I had bullied him throughout our time at Hogwarts so far and now I was asking to be friends. I was beginning to think that my plan would inevitably fail, but nonetheless I waited for him to speak.
Harry's POV
I could not believe what I had just heard. Draco Malfoy the self absorbed, stuck up, bully had just asked if we could be friends. He had even used my first name, and normally he had used my last name as if it had an unbearable after taste. I was very surprised, but I had my doubts about his intentions. Who was to say that he didn't have some other motive behind this.
"I understand if you don't trust me, why would you?" He asked in a low tone.
"Well you have bullied me and my friends the past four years before this," I began.
"I know, Harry. I'm very sorry about the way I've treated you," He added, tilting his head down towards the ground.
He actually sounded genuine, and I was beginning to trust him a little more. I noticed the tone of his voice and the look in his eyes. He looked like he actually meant his words, and in that moment I began thinking over the possibilities. I thought that maybe even if we didn't end up as friends at the very least we could put this whole feud behind us.
"I guess there's no harm in it," I finally concluded.
I watched as he perked up and a small glint of light flashed in his grey eyes. I felt a small flutter in the pit of my stomach as his eyes met mine. After a brief moment of quiet he held out his hand for me to shake.
"Friends," he offered.
"Friends," I replied while shaking his hand.
We briefly shook hands and I couldn't help but notice how soft his hands were. They were also very cold, a drastic contrast from my constantly warm hands. As quickly as our hands made contact they had retracted away from each other. The sensation of his smooth, pale skin a distant memory.
Draco's POV
I couldn't believe he had just bought my fake story like that. He gave me his trust, and I was going to succeed in my plan. I just had to drive it home and give him more reason to let his guard down further.
"Also, Harry, do you remember on the astronomy tower," I began, "before I noticed you were there, and I ripped up a piece of paper?" I asked, readying myself to feed him yet another lie.
"Yes, I remember. What about it?" He questions curiously.
"It was a letter from my father. He has said that if I didn't get my grades up I would be in a lot of trouble, and I was wondering if you could help me study so I could get better grades," I explained.
"Don't you have Pansy and Blaise to study with?" He asked.
"They don't study a bit. I've asked and it's like arguing with a brick wall," I huffed.
"Well, I guess I could help then, but would you mind if it was in the library with my friends there too?" He asked to my dismay.
"No, I was thinking we could meet up here, I don't think it would be good for us to be seen together," I replied immediately.
"Why not?" He inquired with a hint of hesitance in his voice.
"It's my father. If he got word that I was associating with you it would be bad," I explained.
I could see the wheels turning in his head as he thought about my answer. I assume he thought that it was a logical enough answer because he shrugged and gave me an agreeing look.
"That makes sense. I guess we could just meet here once a week for study sessions." He offered.
"That would work for me, we could meet on Saturdays if that's good," I replied quickly.
"Yeah, sounds good."
And with that simple interaction my plan was set into motion. I would have my revenge on Harry Potter. He was oblivious to what was coming for him. Now all that was left was to spend time with him and hold back my pride.
(also my posting schedule is going to be a lot more irregular with summer coming to an end so I won't have as much time to write. I'm not giving up on the story though! Thank You all for reading and hope you stick around!)
