Karen's pov

Maybe it was just a coincidence. Right? Those things happen.

"Confused?" He looks at me. I don't know what to answer back. "Come on let's go for a walk," He stands up to go to the door.

Instead of saying anything or protesting against going for a walk with a stranger, I stand up and follow him out of my room. What is wrong with me? We both start to walk downstairs also being careful not to wake anyone up.

How does he even know his way around the house? It's like he knows where he's going. Unless he has been here before which is something I don't want to be thinking of right now even if it's not true.

He unlocks the front door and steps out. I wonder if I could trick him and lock the door behind him and run up back to my room.

"Don't," He turns around and he looks at me in the eyes, grabbing my wrist. I never noticed how dark his eyes looked or maybe it was the lighting. But the way he is holding me tight I'm getting scared.

"Let's go," He closed the door instead. He lets go of me and we start walking down the driveway into the sidewalk. Why are we even out here at one in the morning? What if we get jumped by someone?

"We'll be fine, I'm here." He says, seeming to always know what I'm thinking.

"How do you always seem to know what I'm thinking?" I finally ask this question.

"You're just easy to figure out," He says and I know that he's lying somehow but I'm in no effort to know any further. He smiles even though there's nothing to smile about.

"Why are you smiling?" He starts laughing at my question. "Now why are you laughing?" It takes him a minute to calm down before he responds.

"Just that you seem so... I can't even explain it," He fumbles out.

"What do you mean?" I'm very confused by what he's trying to explain.

"I mean that you seem so... Well I don't really know exactly but it's so amusing to me," He finishes.

"In a good way or bad?" I'm scared of hearing his answer but I need to know.

"Both." He says and we continue to walk. My stomach turns, what exactly does he mean by both? This boy will always be confusing to me.

"Where are we going anyway?" I change the subject.

"The woods," He says so easily like it was nothing. I stop dead in my tracks and he stops to face me.

"There's no way I'm going to the woods. Nope, no way. It's already bad enough that I came out here with you!" I start to regret that I came out here with him.

"You're scared aren't you," He points out.

"No," My voice cracks at the end, betraying me.

"Yeah you are," He teases.

"Okay if you're going to act like this I'm just gonna head back home," I start walking back but I don't really seem to know where we are. I'm basically lost and this boy knows how to get back. At least I hope he knows. We walked a long way.

"Do you know how to get back?" He questions me and I have a feeling he already knows the answer.

"Can we go back to my house now? I need my sleep and I'm getting tired." I say.

"Fine but tomorrow we will finish our journey," He starts walking back and I follow him.

"What journey exactly? I think you're getting confused because I'm not coming out here with you anymore."

"Oh but you will," He says so sure. I roll my eyes at his attitude but I don't know if he noticed or not.

"I saw that," He seems to answer my thoughts once again. Can this guy read minds or something? When I look at him, he's smirking. I gasp but not loud enough for him to hear me.

"Wait, you can read minds can't you. Thats why you always know what I thinking," I'm so stupid I didn't think of that before.

"Oh look your house is over there." He ignores my question. "Guess you know where to go from here. I'll see you tomorrow at this time." He says and walks away from me.

"No you didn't answer my question!" I yell but he keeps walking away like if he didn't hear me. I want to run up to him and make him answer my question but something just doesn't let me do that. Instead I walk to my house, which doesn't take long.
