"You're nervous

"You're nervous. Wonders never seem to exist." Peter smirked from the seat beside me as we fastened our seatbelts in preparation for landing.

"I'm not. I'm fine." I grumbled, trying to sound convincing.

"Whatever you say Boy Wonder. Funny my daughter arrived on the tarmac with you bright and early. She told me she was spending the night with Hanna."

He knows. This man knows everything and I can't even begin to lie to him.

"We both know where she was and for the record nothing happened." I stared out the window, wanting to crawl out of this plane right now.

"I trust you." Peter smiled and patted my forearm. At least there's that.

We landed and soon were in the back of an SUV with Jack in tow. Not only did I have one of golf's best caddies in the world, I had Jack Nicklaus tagging along with us, one of the greatest golfers of all time. To say we were going to attract some attention was a huge understatement.

We checked into our hotel and only had time to drop our bags off before we were back in the car and headed to the course to officially check into the tournament and receive our credentials . Heads turned. Mouths gaped open. Harry Styles had just waltzed into the clubhouse with two legends by his side and the whispers were immediate.

"Stop fidgeting." Peter said as I rolled my shoulders and popped my neck. Everyone was staring at us and I felt anxious. I wish Lincoln were here to calm me.

Fellow golfers were constantly coming up to say hello to Jack and then they'd say hello to Jack and finally nod an acknowledgment in my direction. Golf is an illusion of sorts. It's steeped in history and etiquette and niceties but the fact is that there can be some real shit slinging behind the curtain. There are rivalries and drama behind the scenes yet on the green we shake hands politely and wave and smile. It's all an illusion.

The nerves disappear and are replaced with tension when I spot the arrogant piece of shit who used to work on Peter's resort. I know all too well what his name is but I decide to toy with him a little and be the arrogant son of a bitch everyone expects me to be.

"Well well well....look who's here." Brandon gives me a smirk and a condescending tone as he approaches.

"Lovely to see you Brenden." I extend my hand to shake his, knowing how much he despises me.

"It's Brandon actually." He grinds his teeth together.

"Of course." I smirk.

I turn to say something to Peter when another voice appears and this one makes me stop in my tracks.

"Would it hurt you to say hello to your father?"

My blood feels like its suddenly turned to ice in my veins. What the hell is my father doing here? It's been years since I've even seen him.
