The sun peeked through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the kitchen. Elena Delgado stood by the stove, flipping pancakes with practiced ease. Samantha Spade leaned against the counter, sipping her coffee, her eyes never leaving Elena.
"Smells amazing," Sam said, her voice soft.
Elena grinned. "Well, I've had plenty of practice. My abuela taught me."
Sam stepped closer, the scent of maple syrup and coffee enveloping her. "Your abuela knew her way around a kitchen."
Elena nodded, her gaze lingering on Sam's lips. "She did. And she always said that cooking was a way to show love."
Sam reached out, brushing a strand of hair from Elena's face. "I believe her."
Their fingers touched, and the air crackled with something more than breakfast. Elena's heart raced. She had joined the MPU to find missing people, not to fall for her colleague. But here they were, in this quiet moment, hearts entwined.
Sam leaned in, her lips brushing Elena's cheek. "Maybe we can make this a tradition. Sunday mornings. Breakfast together."
Elena turned off the stove, facing Sam fully. "I'd like that."
And then, as the morning light danced around them, they shared a kiss—a promise of more mornings, more laughter, and a love that defied the chaos of their work.
