The rain fell relentlessly, tapping against the windowpane of the small room at Girls United. Detective Stella Bonasera sat on her bed, her knees drawn to her chest, and stared out into the gray afternoon. The room felt suffocating, memories of loss and heartache closing in on her.

Detective Scotty Valens from Philadelphia's Cold Case unit had come to New York to investigate a murder that connected to Stella's past. The case was personal—a kidnapping that haunted her dreams, a missing child whose face she couldn't forget.

"Stella," Scotty's voice was gentle, like the rain outside. "You okay?"

She shook her head, unable to tear her gaze away from the window. "It's all coming back," she whispered. "The fear, the desperation. I thought I'd buried it."

Scotty sat beside her, their shoulders touching. "You're not alone," he said. "We'll find answers together."
