-4- But why ?

Walking through the doors of the hospital , Olivia asked a nurse where her mother is and she was led to a brightly lit room .

She found her mother , unconscious , under about a hundred machines but Olivia smiled because she saw her mother after 2 years .

The doctor walked in the room and introduced herself to Olivia as Dr. Rogers before explaining the situation of her patient .

" Mrs. Zayik was shot in the low part of her stomach . Its a miracle how she survived . We had a hard part taking the bullet during the surgery but eventually could , she might be disabled and can't move her legs but for now she might be gone tomorrow . "

Olivia was shocked , she never thought that she will see her mother in that situation , she doesn't want her dead but doesn't want her to wake up and meet her after 2 years of not communicating with eachother .

She nervously sat beside the bed observing the room while she still is in her uniform .

She decided to have a walk to clear her mind of some things and to eat anything since she missed her lunch break.

Walking to the cafeteria , she got some eyes on her . She wasn't confused , she is getting used to it because a cop wearing a uniform in a hospital is unusual to the patients but common for the staff .

After ordering what she wanted , she settled herself on a table and got her phone to keep her mind away from her mother .

She found a missed call from Lucy , Jackson and officer Bradford .

The young woman decided to call her T.O. first to explain her situation and that she can't come to work today .

" hello sir , I just wanted to tell you that i took the day off from the permission of Sergeant Grey If its ok with you . " She said through the phone .

" hey , boot , I uhh am sorry for your mother . " he said feeling sad for her . Olivia however didn't want people pitying on her , she wanted them saying how strong she is .

" thank you sir , see you later . " and with that being said , she hung up the phone .

After she ate her meal and used the toilet of the cafeteria , she went to her mother's room .

Her heart skipped a beat , there was her doctor with three nurses talking rapidly around her mother's bed .

Then a nurse looked at her and said " oh look Mrs Zayik , your daughter is here . " stepping away from the bed that my mother is resting in , the nurse smiled widely.

Olivia was expecting an emotional welcome , hugging , crying , laughing and all sorts of things

Claire looked at Olivia with wide eyes " Get out " were the only words that left her mouth.

The doctor and nurses were confused .

Olivia was frozen , she hadn't talked with her mother for 2 years and these were the words of welcome ?

With teary eyes and a tear on the cheek , Olivia said " I guess that's a goodbye , mother "

And with that she left the room , but before she left the room she went to the main reception that was in front of the main door and gave her contacts to the receptionist for any kind of news on her mother's condition .

Walking through that door felt like making a new life , in Olivia's opinion her mother was her life even after 2 years of not communicating .

After she headed to the station using an uber , Olivia went to the coffee room to get some paperwork done .
