Hanni
I was still a little skeptical of meeting up with Minji, but it felt a little mean to just set her up after I agreed on meeting up with her. So here I was, making my way to where we agreed.
From the distance I could see a figure on a couch under the bleachers. As I kept getting closer I started to see that it was Minji. She was seated on the couch all annoyed for whatever game she was playing on her phone.
"Minji?" I called out and she quickly looked up and threw her phone to the side. "Hanni!" She said happily and I tilted my head to the side a bit, confused to seeing such reaction. Minji realized and gave me a flustered look and I couldn't help but smile.
"I thought you wouldn't end up meeting me here, I just got a little excited." She said I looked at her softly. She's like a little kid when you look at her beyond the skin.
"You're here, alone?" I asked and she quickly gestured me to take a seat on the couch, in which I did. "Yeah, Danielle stole Haerin. This is practically our hang out spot, but you're more than welcome to ever come by." She said with a big smile on her face.
"Thank you." I said and she gave me a nod. It was quiet for a couple of seconds until Minji spoke. "Do you want to ask me anything? I'm very awkward...as you can tell." She said scratching the back of her neck shyly. I gave her a smile as I completely understood her.
"Uh..why basketball?" I asked and she pondered for a bit. "Honestly, I'm not much of a sports person. I love music! But my father wants me to get a scholarship through basketball." Minji said, opening up to me from the start.
Which surprised me a little. No one has ever been so open to me besides Danielle. But she doesn't count, we're cousins.
"Have you ever talked to him about it?" I asked and she let out a bitter chuckle. "I don't dare to, he has a very...very heavy temperament. Plus, I guess I've started to like the sport?" She said with a little funny face at the end.
"You're still questioning it." I said and she let out a sigh. "I have the body and skill for it, but it's not my passion." A passionate woman is ten times hotter, and Minji is just passing my sanity level of hotness. She's breaking the meter.
"I love breaking down a song, I love listening to every note. I love the creation of it, or the way it all fits together. I don't know, but music is life for me." She said with a chuckle at the end. "I have a talent for music and the instruments, if you'd ever like, I can show you what I can do." She said, hope filled her voice and I seemed to have melted at that.
She's so sweet.
I gave her a nod as she gave me a smile. "What about you? You're the captain of the cheer team." She said and I let out a long sigh. "You know how it works, being popular is the same as not being bullied." I said and she gave me a nod.
"Yeah, I understand that." She said, scooting a little closer to me and I acted as if I didn't notice. "As part of the basketball team, I see the way my teammates treat others. It's not pleasant at all." She said and I looked at her. She has a soft heart, and I find it cute.
Who has a soft heart nowadays? Especially those stupid sport jocks.
"Yeah, the cheer team isn't any better." I said with a huff. "You're the captain, you should tell them to act better." She said and I looked at her. "They don't listen to me, they listen to Yu, and she's the runner up captain." I said and Minji clicked her tongue.
"I really dislike Yu, she's dating Minjeong from the soccer team. Minjeong is so different, she's like a nerd!" Minji said and I couldn't help but laugh. She was right, Karina really had double standards.
"You got that right, but it's not like we can really say anything." I said and she gave me a nod. "What about you and relationships?" It slipped through my lips before I could even stop myself from speaking.
She looked at me for a second, probably thinking of what to say. "I'm not that good? I don't really know, I tried dating once but the girl left me in an instant. Sometimes I don't understand what I did wrong." She said and I feel bad for her.
Whoever that girl was, she has lost her damn mind. Minji's a clear keeper, not like I want to keep her or anything.
She just seems like the type of person you'd never want to let go of. Like hello? Minji's hot, and I'm not even in to her like that! Yet...
"What about you?" She asked and I cleared my throat. "Not good either, I'm too much to handle. When you really think of it, I might be just a little difficult. My ex said that it was just so hard to be with me." I said and she looked at me with disagreement.
"I don't think you're difficult. The key point of being with a woman is understanding them and being sympathetic with them. Some need that extra care, you know? Like that extra love. And that's totally normal. So whoever your ex is, he/she was in the wrong." She said and I looked at her in awe.
"If anything they're the difficult ones, why get with someone that they know they can't handle? It's not that hard sticking to your type and not date girls you're not in to and making them feel bad." She said, she clearly disliked the way I was treated.
"You really think that?" I asked and she gave me a proud nod. "Maybe you're just sensitive and that's completely fine. Never get with someone who dares to call you difficult, because they're the ones making it difficult for hurting your feelings like that, you're just a precious woman with a kind heart." She said.
"Are you sure you're not good when it comes to relationships?" I asked and she let out a chuckle. "I would definitely have my queen next to me but I don't, so that's a clear sign." She joked and I could only shake my head at her.
In my honest opinion, she's perfect when it comes to being a lover. You heard her! She's the type of person that just understands, and that's more than enough.
All a woman ever needs is to be understood.
"Plus, it's senior year and I can't believe I'm going to graduate single." She said as she made a funny crying face that made me burst out laughing. And I can't even deny that I enjoyed her company more than I've ever enjoyed anyone else's. There's a flow, and she's easy to talk to.
But sadly, our free period was now over as the bell rung. I looked over at Minji who let out a whine. "I truly hate math." She said and I gave her sympathetic look. "But I'll walk you to class first, I don't like being the first one there." She said and I looked at her.
"Or maybe not, we just met..." She said scratching the back of her head and I gave her a smile as I quickly linked arms with her and she looked at me confused. "I don't mind, Danielle usually walks me to class, but she's more interested in Haerin lately. Plus, we can talk for a bit more." I said and she let out a chuckle.
And with that we made our way inside the building, with an unknown pull towards Minji.
