Kaira's POV

I took a deep breath and dialed the number I hadn't used in years. Aman's name appeared on my phone screen, a reminder of the complicated history we shared. He was one of my oldest friends from school, and little did I know, he had become a significant figure in the underworld.

The call connected, and I heard Aman's familiar voice on the other end.

"Kaira? It's been a while. What's up?" he asked, his tone surprisingly warm.

"Hi, Aman. I know it's sudden, but I need a favor," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "It's about someone... someone I care about. I need to know more about their past."

There was a brief pause. "You want information on someone? Who?"

"Rishav Shekhawat," I said quietly, trying to sound casual but feeling my heart race. "I know you have connections. Can you help me find out more about him?"

Aman's tone shifted to something more serious, and I could sense his hesitation. "Rishav Shekhawat? That's a name I haven't heard in a while. What do you want to know?"

"I need to understand his past, his connections, and why he is the way he is," I explained, my voice trembling slightly. "He's become distant, and I need to know if there's something dangerous I should be aware of."

Aman's silence was heavy, filled with unspoken thoughts. "Alright, Kaira. I'll see what I can do. But you should be aware that Rishav's world isn't something you want to delve into lightly. It's a dangerous game."

"I understand," I said, feeling a mix of relief and apprehension. "I need to know. I need to understand what's happening."

"Fine," Aman said with a sigh. "I'll look into it and get back to you. But remember, once you know the truth, there's no turning back. Are you sure you're ready for that?"

"Yes," I replied firmly. "I need to understand. I need to know what I'm dealing with."

"Alright," Aman said. "I'll get back to you as soon as I have something. Stay safe, Kaira."

As I ended the call, a wave of unease washed over me. I knew that diving into Rishav's past was dangerous and could potentially unravel everything I thought I understood about him. But I was desperate for answers, and I needed to be prepared for whatever I might uncover.

I sat down on the edge of the bed, staring at the space where Rishav had slept. Memories of our time together flashed through my mind—his intense gaze, his protective nature, and the moments of tenderness we had shared. It was hard to reconcile the man I knew with the mysterious and potentially dangerous past Aman might reveal.

A part of me was scared of what I might find. What if the truth was more than I could handle? What if Rishav's past was filled with darkness that could destroy the fragile trust we had built? But another part of me was determined to face whatever came my way. I needed to understand him fully, even if it meant confronting uncomfortable truths.

As I prepared for whatever revelations Aman might uncover, I glanced around the room. Rishav's things were scattered around—his clothes, his cologne, the book he had been reading. Each item felt like a piece of a puzzle I was desperately trying to complete. I knew that understanding his past might be the key to making sense of our present and securing our future.

With a deep breath, I resolved to face whatever Aman uncovered with courage. I couldn't let my fears dictate my actions. I had to be strong, for both myself and for Rishav. The path ahead was uncertain, but I was ready to confront whatever shadows lay in Rishav's past.

The waiting began, and as the hours ticked by, my anxiety grew. Every passing moment felt like a lifetime, but I knew that soon, Aman would bring me the answers I needed. Until then, all I could do was brace myself for the storm that was about to unfold.

Rishav's POV

The morning was quiet as I moved through the house, mentally preparing for the day. Kaira seemed distant, her earlier cheerfulness replaced by a contemplative silence. I could tell she was grappling with something, but she had remained tight-lipped about it. The protective instinct in me wanted to shield her from any pain or confusion, but I also knew I couldn't keep her in the dark forever.

I busied myself with work, trying to maintain a facade of normalcy while my mind was preoccupied with the impending challenges. The reality of Kaira's questions and the shadows of my past were looming large, and I needed to be ready for whatever came next.
