Kaira's POV:
I woke up feeling a heavy weight on my chest, only to see Rishav sleeping soundly against me. As my mind cleared, memories from yesterday flashed before my eyes—his jealousy, the intensity of his emotions, the way he claimed me, and the passion we shared. The thoughts alone made me feel a rush of warmth.
I looked at Rishav, marveling at how peaceful and innocent he appeared in sleep. He looked so different from his usual grumpy, stern self. I gently traced his jawline with my fingers, noticing how long his eyelashes were. Why do boys always have the longest eyelashes?
My mind wandered back to the room with the photos of him and that girl. Who was she? Was she the reason Rishav built walls around himself? Where was she now? I had so many questions and knew Rishav wouldn't provide the answers. He was too guarded, too secretive.
But I couldn't let his past ruin our present. I needed to find out more about her and about the shadows that haunted him. If Rishav wouldn't open up, I'd have to find another way to uncover the truth. For now, though, I just wanted to enjoy the rare sight of him looking so vulnerable and at peace.
I looked at Rishav, admiring his handsome features. My fingers traced the contours of his face, stopping at his lips. Memories of how he claimed my lips yesterday flooded my mind. I leaned in to give him a peck, only to be pulled under him as he rolled on top of me.
"Taking advantage of a sleeping man, are we?" he teased.
"Yes, and what will you do about it?" I shot back playfully.
"Maybe I'll file a police report," he retorted with a smirk.
"Go ahead. My boyfriend won't leave you alone," I challenged.
"Oh really? Is he a big shot?" Rishav asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Very big... but there's one problem—he's not very bright," I teased.
"Huh... seriously, Kaira?" he said, sitting up with a chuckle.
"So?" I said, mimicking his tone.
"Are you feeling better now? Is it still hurting?" he asked, his concern evident.
"Not much..." I began, then decided to tease him. "You know, I've heard that after having sex, girls can't walk... and here I don't have any kind of pain."
His eyes darkened with a mix of amusement and challenge. He pulled me onto his lap, securing his arms around me. "That was not even the trailer... and you're considering it a movie, Mon Trésor."
I blushed and hid my face in his chest. "Rishav... I need to go to the washroom."
"Then go," he said, releasing his hold on my waist.
"I... um..."
"What is it, Kaira?"
"My legs are paining so much... please," I pleaded, giving him my best puppy eyes.
He smiled, clearly amused, and picked me up in his arms, carrying me to the bathroom and placing me gently on the counter.
"Call me when you're finished, hmm?" he said, giving me a soft kiss before leaving the room
I finished my business and took a warm bath, which eased the pain in my lower abdomen. As I dried my hair, I realized I hadn't brought any clothes with me.
"Rishav?" I called out.
"Rishav... are you there?" Silence greeted me.
I donned the bathrobe and opened the bathroom door, only to find him sitting on the bed with his legs apart. Damn, he looked hot and sexy... What if I gave him a blow... What the heck am I thinking? Focus, Kaira!
I didn't even realize when Rishav was suddenly standing in front of me.
"Done eye-fucking me?" he asked in his husky voice, sending shivers down my spine.
"You're my man... I can do whatever I want," I shot back.
"Aren't you getting bold, little writer?"
"There's much more boldness left to see, Mr. Shekhawat."
"I would love to, Miss Singh and soon-to-be Mrs. Shekhawat."
I blushed and walked to the closet to find some clothes. To my surprise, there were many women's clothes inside. My mind began to overthink again, but then I heard Rishav's voice from the bathroom.
"Those are your clothes... they're all new," he shouted.
I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. Of course, he'd thought of everything. I picked out a dress and started to get dressed, but my mind kept drifting back to the girl in those photos. Why hadn't he mentioned her? What was her story? And why did thinking about her make my heart ache with jealousy?
I knew I had to find out, but now wasn't the time. For now, I had to focus on us, on the here and now. I couldn't let his past ruin our present. I slipped into the dress and walked out to join him, determined to face whatever came our way—together.
Rishav's POV:
I watched Kaira walk out of the closet, dressed in one of the outfits I had bought for her. She looked stunning, but there was a flicker of something in her eyes. Doubt? Uncertainty? I needed to address it, but not now. I had to tread carefully.
"Are you feeling better now?" I asked, trying to sound casual.
She nodded, but her eyes told me there was more on her mind.
I walked over to her, closing the distance between us. "Kaira, I know there are things you don't understand yet. I promise I'll explain everything, but right now, I need you to trust me."
She looked up at me, her eyes searching mine for answers. "It's not easy, Rishav. There are so many things I don't know about you. About us."
"I know," I said softly, pulling her into my arms. "And I promise you, I'll tell you everything. But for now, I need you to stay here, stay safe."
She sighed, leaning her head against my chest. "Okay, Rishav. But you have to keep your promise."
"I will," I whispered, kissing the top of her head. "I will."
As we stood there, holding each other, I couldn't help but think about the girl in those photos. She was a part of my past, a part I had buried deep. Kaira didn't need to know about her yet. Not until I could explain everything. Not until I was ready to face those demons myself.
For now, I had to focus on keeping Kaira safe and finding the bastards who had attacked her. I would do whatever it took to protect her, even if it meant confronting my past. Because one thing was clear: Kaira was my future, and I wasn't going to let anything or anyone come between us.
Later that day:
I made sure Kaira was comfortable and settled before heading to my study to make some calls. Varun had texted me, concerned about Kaira. He didn't know the details of our relationship, and I wasn't ready to tell him everything yet.
I returned to the bedroom where Kaira was resting. She looked so peaceful, so vulnerable. I sat on the edge of the bed, watching her for a moment before gently brushing a strand of hair from her face.
"Sleep well, my love," I whispered. "I'll make sure you're safe."
As I left the room, I couldn't shake the feeling that things were about to get a lot more complicated. But no matter what happened, I would protect Kaira with everything I had. She was mine, and I wasn't going to let anything take her away from me.
