In The Car, Mumbai:
(Conversation continues...........)
"I wasn't actually doubting you, I was just a bit unsure about the situations that might force a reaction out of you. But I failed to convey that to you aur aap hurt hote chale gaye." Abhimanyu gave his explanation and Abhir listened patiently.
"Aapne trust kiya mujhpe. It's the situations you didn't trust?" Abhir summarized and counter questioned. Abhimanyu nodded.
"Phir us din mujhe kyun check kar rahe the ki main apne history ko use karunga as a cover up ya nahi? Is that what you call trust?" Abhir snickered and Abhimanyu was rendered speechless.
His son was right on the money. He indeed got carried away in his rage and worry. There were no two ways about that.
"I was too upset to think straight Abhir. Bahut zyada gussa tha main. Thank God ki time mila mujhe shant hone ka kyunki mera initial reaction bahut alag tha." Abhimanyu gave the reason.
"Matlab?" Abhir asked.
"I was angry enough to really bash you up for the stunt you pulled. Ru ne mujhe samjhaya ki main apne aap jaisa nahi behave kar raha hoon aajkal. I am being unreasonable. Phir main shaant hua aur shanti se socha." He narrated.
"Woh calm down hone ke baad ka reaction tha aapka?" Abhir's eyes widened in fright imagining his predicament otherwise. Abhimanyu nodded.
"Aap aur zyada gussa karte mujhpe? Seriously?" Abhir just wanted reaffirmation.
"Yes." Abhimanyu was honest.
"That's scary to even imagine Papa. Chachu sahi kehte hain. Aap bahut mean ho sakte ho if you want to. I don't like that side of you." Abhir pouted and sulked.
"Phir aisa kuch mat karo jisse woh wali side baahar aaye. Let me be the softie I am and I want to be with you guys. Hmm!" Abhimanyu playfully remarked and Abhir hugged him tight.
That was his father alright. The one, who wouldn't fall for puppy eyes and pouts if the lesson to be taught was necessary. The one who knew what to say when and how to keep his kids in check.
Abhir understands how therapy works more than the others and knows what toll it must be having on his father's confidence. His father isn't used to being wrong or making mistakes. But his mood fluctuations or lack of absolute grip on the situation and his emotions was making him do things he normally might not resort to doing. That in itself is tough to deal with.
So, Abhir forgave the slip up because it wasn't intended to hurt him, and he knew that his father can never willingly hurt him for any reason under the son.
"Aapne explanation di hain toh maan jaata hoon iss baar keliye. Lekin aapne phir se aisa kiya na.....main....main..." Abhir didn't know what to threaten his father with.
