Miracle : Dear to Me (Kiseki) The Story of Chen Yi and Eddie

Episode 1

Their 18th and 21st birthday arrive and Eddie finds himself in a candy store. He hates himself. They haven't celebrated their birthday for many years. It is unlikely that Chen Yi will remember to celebrate with him this year. Even though he turned 18.

He glares at the cake on the counter , shooting daggers at it like it's the most disgusting thing he's ever seen. Chen Yi loves chocolate. He takes a deep breath to buy or not to buy?

"Can i help you?" 

The lady ask him from behind the counter , who was. been watching him for a long time. His automatic reaction is to deny , but then he jumps to his feet.

"Should i buy a cake for my birthday?" Eddie ask , feeling a little stupid for asking , so he continue to explain "I've been ignored for three years."

The lady smiles although a little awkwardly

"I'm not sure."

It just makes him angry , what does he still hope for? The lady who would call him a loser and move on? He should go , stupid Chen Yi

"Let me take care of this." 

He hear and turns to see a tall man. Above is Chen Yi. Seriously , is he just a dwarft?  This makes him even more furious. Eddie gets straight to the point. 

"We have the same birthday."
"What a coincidence." 

The guy says , interrupting him. It really annoys him the more he thinks about it. 

"It's not our real birthday. Our parents were killed when we were little , so our adoptive parents gave us a random birthday." 

The guy looks at him very confused. He doesn't understand why he's explaining this to him. He didn't tell anyone anything. But he continues anyway. 

"We agreed that if we were still alive , we should celebrate our birthday together every year."

He looks at the object in his hand. He runs his thumb over it. 

"Chen Yi."
"I was buying gifts."

Every year he bought a gift for  Chen Yi , but the first year he threw it away , the other two are sitting in a box in his room. Every year he hoped...

Doesn't matter. This is stupid. He feel stupid. Surely this guy won't understand. But then the stranger tells him.

"I don't know what happened between you and your friend , but when you celebrate your birthday with someone you love , the happiness you feel will double. Someone has to take the initiative right?"

This guy's fame is not without meaning. This makes Eddie think. He really loves Chen Yi.  More than this guy knows. Every year they celebrated was special to him. It was proof that they had made it through another year and were still together. 

Perhaps Chen Yi will celebrate the holiday with him again this year. If he buys a cake and surprises  Chen Yi when he returns home , maybe he will stay. Or maybe they can make a wish together and blow out the candles. Perhaps Chen Yi will smile at him as before , with tenderness. He doesn't even care if Chen Yi calls him brother

So he busy a damn cake and lights candles at home. 18 and 21. When did so many years pass?

The soft glow of the flame warms his heart. Reminds him of his very first year. Chen Yi sat opposite him , his face illuminated by candles. That was all he could see as they sat in the dark. Back then , Chen Yi's eyes still had an innocent sparkle and his smile was light. He had not yet been embittered by their way of life. They made stupid wishes , as children do , well , at least he did it. 

When he asked Chen Yi what he wanted , he replied  'That we will always be together'. Either way , it makes him happy. And when Chen Yi walks through the door , excitement shoots through his veins. He quarrels with Chen Yi a lot , but it's just a farce. By default , he acts tough , harsh , and says things that irritate people. Because in reality he feels too much and knows that these feelings can harm him. So if people can't get close , if they never find out , he'll be fine. It's funny how Chen Yi still hurt him , but he always made an exception for the guy. As long As Eddie doesn't find out , everything's fine. 

"Chen Yi." 

He shouts , but Chen Yi raises his hand to stop him. He is talking on the phone.

"The boss is celebrating our birthday , do you want to join?" 

He asks , stopping at the door. Pain , disappointment , it is unbearable , the last hope is gone.  He looks at the cake , hidden from Chen Yi's view , he hates it.

"No i am busy."

Eddie can't look at Chen Yi when he says this. He can barely hold back his tears , he wants to scream. He wants to break something. And without a moment hesitation , Chen Yi turns around and leaves. This is the fourth time. again.

"Happy birthday"

There is nothing joyful about this. Eddie watches the smoke disappear into the air and wishes he could do the same. 

The only thing left for him to do is cope the same as he has for the last three years. He tosses the cake onto the floor , steps over the mess without looking back , and heads towards the bar.

Fan Zhurui calls him over to celebrate , and he is grateful for it because he doesn't want to drink alone and , frankly , he's not interested in hanging out with the crowd he usually hangs out with.

So he allows Fan Zhurui to pour him a strong drink and is determined to drink until he forgets this terrible night. But Rui , they've been friends for a long time , and he gives Eddie pause. 

He ask why he likes Chen Yi so much. He think he should just move on. 

Right now he really doesn't know. Chen Yi treats him like crap and always scolds him , besides all this , he is in love with the boss. But he can't remember the time when he started liking Chen Yi. 

He found Eddie as he was dying , yes , he always scolds him and ruins all his fun , but he always cares about him the most. 

Eddie thinks about these special moments. Chen Yi's hand is on his cheek , wiping away the blood. Or when the elder ruffles his hair. Even when Chen Yi pulled him out of the bar and put him safely to bed. He was always with him. Eddie shakes his head

"I like him anyway."

There's no point in talking anymore. He just likes him , and always will.

"I like him so much that i would die for him." 

Eddie says , turning to Rui , who just laughs.

"Do not exaggerate."

Idiot Fan Zhurui.

"You don't understand. Some people really make you want it. You'll know when you meet them." 

Eddie feels like an adult saying all this. He's definitely a little drunk , but he means every words he says.

"So why are you so hostile towards him if you love him?" Asks Rui.

Of course , he won't answer that either. It's all just a game. Eddie doesn't like to make Chen Yi angry , but what choice does he really have?

"How else can i get him to pay attention to me?" Eddie says feels quite pathetic.

He is so insignificant to him that Chen Yi will not even talk to him unless it is to scold him. Eddie doesn't want to think about it anymore. He motions for Rui to pour him another drink , he's too sober.

Fan Zherui breaks up with him after Eddie's second round of drinks. Just when he starts to feel better
