Leading up to hogsmeade weekend Draco was writing to his parents trying to get them to sign Caydens slip but as they weren't his legal guardians they couldn't. Turns out providing a house for the past two years doesn't count as a legal guardian. Either way Cayden attempted to assure him that he was fine with not going citing his mountain of homework as an excuse. Nott seemed fine with him not going, for some reason no matter what Cayden did or said he couldn't make Nott happy. Blaise on the other had kept giving him sad puppy dog eyes asking him if he could talk to dumbledore or something to help him go. It wasn't until the day Blaise pulled him aside after class that Cayden genuinely considered going.

"I really wanted to have fun together at hogsmeade. As a group of course but you know Draco will wonder off and pansy will follow him so I'll be left with Nott, you wouldn't leave me to deal with Nott on my own would you?" He asked. His big brown puppy dog eyes finally broke Cayden.

"Fine, I might have a way to sneak out." He said.

"Wait really how?" Blaise said far to interested.

"Ah ah ah, a good slytherin never reveals his secrets." Cayden smiles walking away. There was something about Blaise. He couldn't point it but he quickly became one of Cayden's closest friends up there with Draco who he'd known since day one.

It wasn't actually until the day when Cayden couldn't find his map. He told his friends he wouldn't be able to make it that day and told them to have fun without him. Blaise looked disappointed and Cayden felt so guilty, he could feel just how disappointed and a little sad Blaise was. He wanted to just sneak with them but it was important he figured out why professor Lupin gave him that off feeling. He waits until all the first years were busy which honestly took ages many of them kept going up to him and asking him questions or secrets of the school, or how he had cheated on his exams first year. The things they came up with were wild but eventually he got away from them. He managed to find professor Lupin in his room with Harry Potter. The halls were too long and empty for him to stand there without looking suspicious. He looked around and took off his cloak and casted a stiffening charm on it the a simple levitation charm he got on it and went just high enough that he could sit on his cloak without anyone below seeing anything but low enough that he could peak through the door and hear what they were saying. Harry seemed to be asking about the lessons and why lupin wouldn't let him try the boggart, turns out he didnt want to scare the other students but before he could get any real details about their Professor, Snape walks in carrying a goblet. He gives it to Lupin and he happily accepts and thanks Snape. Snape leave and Lupin drinks the goblet saying it was to help him as he was a little sick. Lies, he immediately though. Madame pomfrey was the only one who gave out medicine to anyone staff or student. It didn't matter how complicated or even if it was made by Snape she was always the one who would administer it because she was the one who knew dosages. Cayden for the first time felt suspicious of his professor. Lupin ushered Harry out and Cayden broke the charms silently jumping down holding his cloak.

"I don't trust him." Cayden said causing Harry to spin around.

"Merlin, Cayden how long have you been here, I swear you need a bell or something." Harry says.

"Come on to many things arent adding up." He says disregarding what Harry had said.

"I agree, I don't know what Snape is doing but that didnt look safe for human consumption, Professor Lupin is the best teacher we've had I wont let-"

"No not Snape, well kind of Snape, but I don't trust Professor Lupin." Cayden interrupts.

"What?" Harry says. He pulls Cayden into a corner away from the classrooms. "Lupin has never done anything wrong, Snape was the one to give him the weird potion."
