Chapter 14: Fawkes and Fainting

Cayden froze in place. This couldnt be real, he had seen him before, in pictures and last year. He didnt look like that. He didnt. It couldnt be. Ginny was talking to you know who. He could feel the anger rising in the room, was it even his anymore. He looked over at harry who had forgotten he was here.

"I don't care who you are, because right now your nothing more than a memory, you arent even real. How pathetic must you be to only be living because an eleven year old girl happened to find your diary."

"Oh but Cayden, I you of all people should know its no accident that Ginny found me, after all you are a smart boy. I'm sure you figured it out. I'm the greatest sorcerer in the world, all of this was my plan." He boasts.

"You're not." Harry says. His head still down his voice still soft.

"Not what?" Tom snapped back.

"You arent the greatest sorcerer in the world, that title belongs to dumbledore."

"Oh you mean the man who ran at the mere memory of me." He would have continued but there was a strange music coming from the entrance they came in. Suddenly as it started a pheonix flew in. Fawkes was here holding the schools old sorting hat.

"Ah yes what wonderful reinforcements, do you two feel better now. After all you have an old song bird and an even older hat to place upon your gravestones. Harry takes back Tom's attention trying to delay the fight. Cayden was hoping Ron would come busiting in, even a broken wand was better than nothing. But they were alone. Fawkes flew down and gave harry the hat while it flew over to Ginny and Cayden.

"You can heal things right can you heal her?" He begged, he didn't even know if the bird could understand him but he tried. The bird shook its head, there was nothing it could do. Cayden rose to his feet. If there was nothing he could do to Ginny to save her, then he would tear this memory to shreds. Unfortunately for him as soon as he got up, the basilisk appeared.

Why hasn't he taken a page from hermione's book. If he had a mirror he could petrify the monster and this would all be over. But no. He was unarmed, angry, and didnt exactly know how to kill a memory, especially if the guy it belonged to didnt really have a brain anymore. The basilisk moved towards harry who blindly moved aside. Cayden however took a different approach. He attempted to storm the creature from behind. He grabbed a sharp stone that was hanging of the side wall and ran as fast as he could down the side of the basilisk. He swung and managed to damage the scales halfway up its back causing it to scream and whip its head up while fawkes dove for its eyes. One eye down one to go he thought. Unfortunately he forgot he was still hanging on to the back half of the beast and when it whipped around to get Cayden off it threw him into the wall. Things went black. Again. This time however he recovered fairly quickly when he got back to he could feel at least three broken ribs. He came to just in time to watch harry stick a sword in the baskiliks mouth. He felt like he was watching in slow motion, Harry's shirt ripping on the fangs, blood being drawn, venom being spilled. Harry clutches his arm in pain and the basilisk is frozen in its death. Cayden uses the little strength left to run to harry. Harry grabs on of the basilisk fangs and Pericles the diary. He hears the memory scream and harry collapses. Cayden grabs his tie from around his neck and uses it to stop the blood and venom from going further. He lays harry down against the wall and uses his wand to make a tourniquet.

"Heh, at least this time you got to see the finale." Harry laughs.

"The show's not over yet, and your gonna stay alive long enough for us to get help." Cayden says not looking harry in the eyes. He can feel Harry's pulse, its threads but still there. Fawks flys down resting on Harry's arm. He's heads a few tears.

"Fawks you beautiful bird you're a genius." Harry looks confused at Cayden. "Phoenix tears, they make the most powerful healing potions but raw, they are just as strong, and can heal almost any poison." Cayden says. Harrys moves his fingers.

"I feel better already." He says.

"You're still bleeding, we still need to get you and Ginny to the hospital wing." Cayden says picking up Harry allowing the boy to rest his good arm on Caydens. Almost like magic Ginny wakes up and Cayden explains it to her.

"It's ok, it wasn't your fault, you didnt do anything wrong, we are here now, dont worry just stay warm." He says. Ginny nods wrapping his cloak tighter around her as she stands up as the three make their way back.

Cayden doesn't remember how exactly they made it back but he does remember handing everyone over and watching them all get treated before promptly passing out.

"You trying to break a record or something." Harry says as Cayden wakes up in the hospital bed.

"Is everyone alright?" Cayden asks.

"You know I really dont know why the sorting hat put you in slytherin, you dont have an ounce of self preservation in you." Hermonie pipes up on his other side.

"You." He growls at her.

"What did I do?" Hermonie questions.

"This all would have been over if you had just told me, but no you had to tell your friends first." Cayden says in an annoying mimic.

"Well I didnt exactly think I was going to get attacked right after now did I." She says, the three of them laugh.

"Where are Ron and Ginny?" He asks.

"They let Ginny go back about an hour ago so Ron is with her, she is ok everyone is basically fine except for Lockhart, his brain is still pretty gone." Harry responds.

"Well its not like there was much of one to begin with." Cayden retorts back. Just as soon madame pomfrey bursts in telling Harry and Hermonie to get lost.

"I saw what you did." Madame pomfrey says as she is sure the two are out of earshot. "That tourniquet, you defenitly helped speed along recovery, I'll bet he would have even made it without Fawkes there." She says. Cayden wasn't exactly sure what to say, no adult at this school had really said something like that. "You have a talent for healing, I would love to help you develop it, next year maybe if you have time come down here see what I do, who knows you might even enjoy it." She was being completely genuine, she was actually being nice to him and offering him to work under her.

"Yeah I-I would love that t-thankyou I-I dont really know what to say." He says.

"I know its often hard for people from your house to come to me, people often think I will judge them but here's a secret, I'm far too busy to judge the scrapes and scraps you lot get yourselves into." She smiles at him, its a warm smile. Everything about her just seems so warm. He nods and she tells him to finish the water and snacks in front of him then he is free to go.

Draco soon comes in and drags him out of the hospital room. Apparently his dad was here and they were leaving early without dobby. Honestly he couldn't really understand most of what Malfoy was saying. Most of his stuff was packed anyway so he just shoved some school work into a smaller bag and left with the malfoys. None of his other friends were there so he couldnt say goodbye to anyone, he didnt even get a chance to see Ginny after all that went down. She probably still had one of his robes, some to think of it harry also had his tie. However that was likely more blood stained so. The entire time back he kept completely silent with mr Malfoy. The man was always creepy but now Cayden was certain, he was going to be spending the summer with pure evil.

Hey all sorry it's short but we made it, next up we tackle book three! Can you believe we are only three books in, I still have so many more ideas and so much more to write. The next book will probably be the most broken from cannon as I will use more of the fannon aspects when it comes to certain characters (IYKYK) so if your familiar with more fannon than cannon I'm sure this wont be much of a surprise but if you are new to fannon I hope you enjoy the show. I'm going to try and take a short break just to catch up on work and have some chapters ready so I don't have to worry so much. School is just a lot especially with exams coming up and all my teacher are heavy on the work load, but I will try to make sure y'all dont wait long. Anyway I hope you enjoy this and I'll see you when I see you.
