Chapter 10: Rats and Revenge

They all started walking back in silence. No one knew what to say. Hermione was seconds away from crying, Ron was muttering there was something he could do and Cayden and Harry were sharing silent glances. It's not until Scabbers starts squealing again that the awkwardness is broken. There in front is hermione's cat who seems to be able to smell the rat despite the cloak. The next moves were a blur, scabbers ran, crookshanks chased, Ron ran after the two and suddenly out of nowhere there was the dog. The dog was massive, black and shaggy. It looked like it hadn't seen a bath its entire life. It grabbed Ron who had caught scabbers and Cayden could feel the pain after Ron was dragged like a rag doll. No one can stop him he attempts stunning spells but the dog is to fast and he's to shaky on his feet. He runs after Ron not even realising he's running towards the whomping willow. The dog opens the passage and Cayden dives after him. Before he knew it he was in the streaking shack face to face with the one and only Sirius Black. Ron was across the room and Cayden held his wand to his side. He stared down the man not caring that he towered over him.

"Reggie?" He says. "No I'm not there, you aren't real. You shouldn't be here." Cayden couldn't speak. Honestly he looked like a sad man not really like a mass murderer.

"You hurt him." Cayden says his voice laced with venomous hate.

"I'm sorry I had to he was holding on to him." Black said not making much sense. Harry and Hermione show up in the passage and Ron tries to warn them it was a trap.

"I thought you'd come help your friend. Your father would have done the same for me. Brave of you not to get a teacher. Makes everything easier." Black says after disarming Harry and Hermione with Ron's wand.

"Yeah James, he'd have done anything for you yet you let him down." Cayden said.

"Shut up shut up you aren't real you died you aren't really here." Black says covering his ears. Cayden can't look away. He's facing the man and he is frozen in place like a statue.

"You want to kill Harry you'll have to kill us to." Ron says attempting to stand up but Hermione holds him down.

"There'll only be one murder here tonight." Black states.

"Yeah, whys that?" Harry spits at the man.

"It won't be Harry though will it?" Cayden says. He doesn't know why he didn't put the pieces together sooner, wormatil, padfoot, seeing the animagus it all started to make sense. "You would never hurt Harry, you wouldn't do that to James would you." Cayden says. The three look at Cayden like he's insane.

"You know I'd never do that, you don't really believe that Reg?" He says. Harry saw his opportunity and grabs the mans wrist and disarms him. He also punches him in the face yelling about how he killed his parents. Then Harry throws the man against the wall. Cayden holds Harry back.

"Don't kill him." Cayden says.

"You killed my parents." Harry says.

"I don't deny it." Black says. "But just let me explain the whole story then you can kill me for letting the traitor kill them."

"Hear him out Harry please." Cayden says.

"Why are you defending him, and why is he calling you a different name?" Harry asks turning to Cayden with the most betrayed expression Cayden had ever seen.

"Please you dont understand if you just hear me out-" Black says before harry interrupts,.

"No I understand, thanks to you I understand more than enough." Harry says. Hermione turns to the door as they hear foot steps.

"PLEASE WE ARE UP HERE." Hermione yells. The door busts open and Professor Lupin disarms Harry.

"Sirius." The professor says.
