Deetra pulled her brother inside their parents' bedroom; Damon looked around in awe. This couldn't be any good; last time they were in here talking, things got brutal quickly. He let his hands rest in his trousers pockets as he breathed in heavily. Deetra was walking all around the room, her arms crossed in front of her chest while staring down. Damon had started getting worried; his sister was getting worse as the days were going by. He only wished she would open her mouth so he could understand what was wrong. Then, they would find a solution as always. She wasn't talking though, she was just walking up and down, anxious with watery eyes. Damon decided to start the conversation as Deetra didn't look ready to speak yet.
"Did you bring me here to fight again about my sexuality? Oh, are you about to come out of the closet!? Congrats, sister!"
He clapped slowly with a sarcastic smile trying to use humour to light up his sister. She just stood in front of him and sighed, still with crossed arms and a bowed head.
"Damon...."
He turned his head, trying to look into her eyes but failing. It must be something awful if Deetra avoids eye contact like that.
"Did something happen, Deetra? You know that you can tell everything to me, right?"
"Well, um... Damon, I... You see, my period is really late and...."
Damon glared at her, confused, soon his eyes widening, an "oh" leaving his mouth by accident. He fiddled with his fingers biting his bottom lip and glaring away from her silhouette. He didn't know what to say.
"Uh, are you... um..."
"I don't know! I want to go and buy a pregnancy test, but after James moved in here, he's around my legs all day! Not that I complain but -"
"And between them, too as it seems - How can you be pregnant!? I thought you two use protection! You do, right!?"
Deetra gulped harshly and answered back with the same tone, bringing her fingers to her face, soon grasping the sides of her face.
"Why are you panicking, Damon!?"
"I am panicking because you panic, too! You clearly don't want a kid! Now answer my question and don't dodge it, Deetra!"
She sighed and turned around before taking a seat at the bed. Deetra rested her hands on her thighs with a sad look. Her sibling sat by her side, drumming his fingers on his knees, soon facing her.
"We use protection; it's just... Maybe we tried once or twice without... out, I know it's bad, and I am an idiot for agreeing to it, but... Please understand me; I can't have a child right now, right here, Damon... This environment is the worst; I don't want a poor soul to be as traumatized as us; no one deserves that...."
Deetra was right; Damon understood each one of her words and was agreeing with them. Another kid can't grow up in this mansion, among drugs and the mafia. The danger was lurking at every one of these rooms, and he knew it; at any time, someone would end up hurt. This mansion couldn't handle one more traumatized person. Damon and Deetra were more than just enough.
"Look, I'll go grab one for you, but.... If you're pregnant, I want you to tell the truth to James and me but especially to him."
"I will, Damon...."
"If you don't want the baby, we'll find a solution; there are millions of good gynaecologists in London and outside of it...."
"... Thank you, Damon."
It's been a while since Damon received a hug, especially one from his sister. Deetra hugged him with all her strength; he sighed and hugged her back. She was sobbing softly; she had never asked for help from anyone before. Damon tried to calm her down by brushing her hair with his fingers and holding her close to him. He couldn't keep seeing her cry; he would tear up sooner or later.
