There was a knock on the door, but Damon and Domenico didn't hear it as the music was too loud. James opened the door and walked in, glaring at both of them with shocked eyes. Damon stopped and looked at him before waving softly with a smile; soon, Domenico's eyes were on the man, too. Domenico took a step back when he faced James; his eyes widened in fear as he hid behind Damon, holding his breath. The drug baron was left confused as he looked at his cousin and then at his buddy, trying to understand what was going on. The boy was trembling badly; his face was red as he pointed at the tall man with his index finger while stuttering.
"H-He tried to shoot me!"
"What?"
Damon turned to James, who was smirking awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. His eyes were nailed on his friend as James took a step back, leaning against the door. The kingpin took the guitar off him and left it on the couch before dragging his friend outside. He closed the door behind and grabbed his arm with all his strength grinding his teeth.
"Did you really try to kill a mafia boss' son!?"
"Well, he was flirting with Deetra -"
"He's a boy, for god's shake, James! Do you have any idea what kind of consequences Deetra and I would face if you had pulled the trigger!?"
James gulped as his body shivered. Damon was right; if Domenico ended up dead, the three of them would be buried under the ground a few months ago.
"I'm... sorry...."
"You should try to work on your anger issues, mate...."
"I'm... trying... It's just my thoughts had gotten all blurry out of a sudden, and I lost control... I didn't... mean to cause trouble...."
James puffed, scratching his arm nervously. Damon sighed and patted his friend's shoulder as he opened the door and pushed his buddy in. Domenico was sitting on the couch, being on his phone. The moment he faced James, he curled at the corner of it breathing heavily. He was pretty sure he would try to murder him again.
"Domenico, no worries! James is not a threat! He wants to say something to you!"
Damon turned his chin towards his mate with his hands in the pockets of his pants. James glared at him, growling before sighing, knowing what he had to do. He stared at the boy with a dull look and chuckled.
"I am sorry that I tried to kill you; I just lost my patience. I promise I'm not as bad or dangerous as I seem to be."
The hitman grinned wide while apologising as the boy nodded and looked away shyly, not knowing what to say.
"It's... fine... I guess?"
He laughed while fiddling with the rings on his fingers. Domenico was still scared of James; he just managed to hide it better.
The door opened again; this time, a woman stepped inside, looking at all of them. Domenico raised his hand and waved softly; she waved back with a smile and a giggle.
"I'm sorry for interrupting you, brother, but there's a letter for you."
"A letter?"
Damon turned to his sister, confusion covering his face. She nodded and lifted her hand; a pearl white envelope was hiding between her fingers. He focused on it for a split second and then at his sibling.
"Did you open it?"
"Mmh...."
"Is it something important?"
Deetra raised both her eyebrows; it was their way of communicating without talking when something serious was going on. Damon gulped and turned to his cousin.
