Promises (Ninjago's Kai x Reader)

Episode 8 - Voodoo Magic

"Not so fast!" Kai shouts from up ahead.

Lily and I share a glance: there's gonna be a fight. As we approach, we can see the four boys and Nya standing battle ready before a group of Harumi's minions. The bitch in question stands between the two groups, the third and final Oni mask in her hands. Lloyd is nowhere in sight.

"Careful," says Cole. "I wouldn't want you to upset the child."

Of course. Leave it to these idiots to bring a child to a dangerous face off.

"Haha! Looks like we have the upper--"

Before Jay can finish his sentence, more Son's of Garmadon appear behind them; they're now surrounded.

"Oh, come on," he groans. "Zane, I thought you said we had them outnumbered."

"That was before I knew how many of them there were."

"Oh, isn't this such a lovely pickle?" Ultra Violet says with a conniving giggle.

Kai doesn't back down. "Where's Lloyd," he demands.

Harumi smirks. "The Green Ninja can't help you now."

"Remember how I didn't care for her at first? Then she won me over with all that girl talk, and we started to really get to know each other?" says Nya. "Well now I hate her!"

The robot Son of Garmadon, Mr E, moves to put on his Oni mask.

Zane notches an arrow. "Don't even think about it."

"This can end one of two ways," says Kai. "Either you hand the mask over peacefully--"

"I don't even have to know the rest of the choices," Jay interrupts. "I like that one."

Harumi pays him no mind. She crosses her arms over her chest and glares. "Or what?"

"Or we'll have to get all Ninja up on you!"

Well that was anticlimactic. Looks like I'm gonna have to intervene.

"What does that even mean?" Harumi asks.

I nod at Lily and she pulls out her knife. Together we slink forward.

"I don't know, I was improvising," says Kai, exasperated. "Usually Lloyd does the talking, but he isn't here... Where's Lloyd!?"

A loud booming sound explodes from the mountain as water shoots out a small gap in the rocks. A green mass is launched by the pressure and comes flying towards the group.

"There he is," says Cole.

The guys catch my brother.

"Lloyd!" the baby shouts-- wait... since when can it talk? And when did it learn to walk? I could've sworn it was smaller when I left...

I shake my head. I have to focus. I knock an arrow, take aim.

"You guys! Rumi is the Quiet One," Lloyd gasps.

"We kind of got that much," says Kai.

Fire.

My arrow speeds towards it's target, taking everyone by surprise. The third Oni mask is knocked from Harumi's hands.

"No!" she screeches, and then chaos ensues.

Lily and I reveal ourselves, jumping into battle with knives and glowing fists. The giant one and the robot one put on their Oni masks and spring to fight. Metal clangs through the air as swords clash against each other. Lloyd and Harumi race after the last mask.

Our brawl doesn't last very long. I've barely managed to beat a random thug to a pulp before a low whirring sound prompts all of us to stop. With a deafening roar, a giant crab bursts from behind the trees.
