"Why is it that Torchfire Mountain is the only place we can destroy the Fangblades?" Nya asks.

"'Cause the Fangblades are made from the original teeth of the Devourer. They're so strong they can only break down in extraordinary heat," Kai explains, giving my hand a small squeeze under the table. I smile at him.

"Could someone pass the salt?" The ship shakes and the table salt slides over to Jay. He lets out a laugh. "Hey, thanks!" he says to the storm.

Cole opens the door and stumbles in. "Please, no one talk about food. How much longer until we get there?"

Jay shrugs. "Not long."

"Hey, Cole, you're looking a little green over there. How'd you like a salt sandwich?" I ask with a mischievous smirk. Cole covers his mouth to prevent from puking and rushes out.

"Speaking of green, who would've guessed Lloyd Garmadon turned out to be the Green Ninja?" Jay says before taking a bite of his sandwich.

"I know! He was such a brat at first. It's hard to believe he's gonna become the greatest Ninja that ever lived," Nya replies.

I nod. "I mean, I used to be an evil bitch, now look at me: head over heels for your brother! It's funny how life works."

Kai looks at me. "You were never a bitch."

I scoff. "Please. I know I was. I still am sometimes."

Kai opens his mouth to retaliate, but Jay cuts him off. "Where is your brother, anyway?"

I shrug. "Beats me. Probably causing mischief somewhere."

"It's roasting out here!" Jay exclaims, waving his hand in front of his face as if it were a fan.

Kai chuckles. "If you cant stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

Jay rolls his eyes before turning his attention to my Uncle, who has just come out onto the deck. "Hey, what's with Sensei?"

Zane shrugs. "I do not know. He's been distant all morning."

"Ah, it is beautiful, is it not?" Uncle says as he approaches us.

"Not as beautiful as Tasha," Kai replies with a wink. I smirk and wink back.

"Eww. Don't do that when I'm around, please!" Cole groans.

"Sensei, we are ready for the destruction of the Fangblades, yet you seem disinterested," Zane says, ignoring Kai and Cole's comments.

Uncle shrugs. "You do not need my approval to finish the task."

Jay furrows his eyebrows. "Uh, but Sensei-"

"Butts are for sitting. And besides, there will come a time when you will have to go on without me," Uncle continues. He meets my gaze and shakes his head ever so slightly. I frown at him to express confusion, though I am not confused at all. I know exactly what he means.

"Sensei, you're talking crazy. You've been alive for, like, forever," Kai says. Cole smacks his head and gives him a disapproving look.

"What he is trying to say is: you are like the sunrise, we cannot begin a day without you."

Uncle smiles and nods. "Ah, but even the sun must go down so a new day begins."

"I don't like metaphors," Cole says. "What are you trying to say? Are you leaving us again?"

Uncle opens his mouth to reply, but I cut him off. "Let's just get rid of them," I say.

They nod in agreement. The Ninja each take a Fangblade from Uncle Wu when the boat jerks to the side. The entire ship tilts sideways causing us all to slide toward the edge. Unfortunately, this was the side with the plank. My Uncle slides down it and off the edge. Without hesitation, I run and jump off the ship after him, grabbing the edge of the plank with one hand and his hand with my other.
