she took my arm
i don't know how it happened
we took the floor and she said
oh, don't you dare look back
just keep your eyes on me
i said, you're holding back
she said, shut up and dance with me

Upon arriving to the party, Gavin immediately saw some football guys, so I ducked around the crowd in fear of them seeing me. I didn't want to be seen with him yet, considering Cash and I broke up a week ago today. The buzz around the party was that the football team had won again and apparently we were at one of the players' houses. I looked around for people I knew, finding my friends after a little while.
"Sam!" Raegan yelled drunkenly. She threw her arms around me and held onto me as she continued to speak. "I thought you were working. I didn't think you would come! I am so happy you came, you know that?"
"I'm happy I'm here too." I lied to the drunk girl, making her giggle and then she ran away, leaving me with her sister and our other best friend. "Do either of you know if Via's here?" I asked them. Hannah shrugged and Tatumn said she didn't have a clue.
"I'm going to find Jonah." Said Tatumn, and she stumbled off. I asked her if she wanted some help, but she said she knows where she is and would find him on her own.
"Is Morgan here?" I asked Hannah, filling in the silence that had fallen between us. She gave me the drink she'd been drinking.
"I saw her with some of the other girls from the team a while ago. I'm not sure if she's still here, though." She motioned to the drink in my hand. "Have it."
"Thanks." I took a sip, feeling it burn as it went down. "What the hell is this, Hannah? Straight vodka? Holy shit!"
"Pretty much, yeah." She shrugged, running a hand through her light brown hair. She sat down on the couch and grabbed my wrist, tugging on it, signaling for me to sit next to her. "I already had one of those. Finishing that would do me in."
"I get it." I took another long sip as I plopped down in the spot next to her. "You know what happened today?"
"What happened?" I noticed her slurring more now. Her stupid smirk was planted on her face, as if she knew exactly what I was going to talk about. Her hand was still on my wrist, her loose grip making it feel like she forgot it was there.
"Gavin showed up to the cafe today when I was working. The very end of my shift. He brought me here." I sighed. "I'm not sure if I'm into him. I think I am. He has green eyes. Green is my favorite color."
"I prefer blue." Hannah played with the ends of my hair, twisting it around her finger and then starting a small braid with the pieces in front of my face.
"I may not know if I'm into him, but he's definitely into me." I took another sip of the drink, careful not to move as she continued braiding.
"He definitely is. I mean, who's not?" She shrugged, leaning away from me.
"Most people aren't." I laughed. "A lot of people find me pretty, but not everyone is into me like that."
She looked like she wanted to say something, but she didn't. I felt her eyes burning a hole in the side of my head as I checked my phone, which was blowing up with texts from Gavin and Raegan. She told us some of the soccer girls were looking for us, so I ignored Gavin's messages and dragged Hannah with me to where Raegan was.
