5 months later

Namhae looks a little different in winter.

It's nearing Christmas, being only one week apart from it and they all got two whole weeks of break before they'll continue preparing for the upcoming comeback scheduled in February. It's been a blast, these past few months as they kept themselves busy with the tour until late October. Five moths have passed since he and San also got together in that hotel room in Tokyo and if he thinks about it, Wooyoung still can't believe it's real. For the first time in some years he's finally feeling at peace, the colors of life have finally bloomed and there are no longer shades of gray roaming around his vision. He's quite contented if you ask him.

They decided to go back to Namhae first thing in the morning on their first day of break. It was Wooyoung's biggest wish as a belated birthday present. Ever since that first time he got there, he's been dreaming of going back and spending some more days in that peaceful place. And he misses Miss Choi as well and the kittens and Byeol... He misses that oasis of heaven.

Once again, they reach the town in the afternoon after sleeping in and not hearing the alarms at all. But they are here, and while San drives the car on the main street, Wooyoung cannot help but watch how much of a difference Namhae has in the winter. There are no green fields around, no trees are alive either, the sky isn't blue and the sun is nowhere to be seen due to so many gray clouds. He wouldn't say it brings him a little wave of sadness, because it doesn't, but maybe he's just too biased when it comes to summer. Even the path up the hill towards the house looks so much different without the greenery of summer, but once he spots the gate and San stops the car to open it, Wooyoung's heart skips a beat.

They're finally here, for a whole week again and Wooyoung just can't get enough of it.

"Haven't seen you this excited in a while." San chuckles as they climb out of the vehicle.

"As if you're not excited to be here." Wooyoung argues back.

"Not like you."

"In my defense, I just miss the cats."

The older gives him a look of suspicion, but he does nod in the end. Of course he's excited. He's back here, where there are no cameras following him, where he can finally catch his breath and just relax. And he's going to see San's mom as well, whom he really misses despite seeing her about two months ago when the older finally decided to tell her about them. She took it really well, and kept on saying that she's known ever since their trip in the summer that something was going on between them. If even she was able to see and the didn't, then it really shows how dumb they were.

"Mom's not home." San says as he opens the front door.

It brings out a sudden warm gust of scented air along with the strong smell of something sweet, sign that Miss Choi must have baked something before going out. Compared with the coldness from outside, here is quite warm. They take their coats and boots off and just like that day of summer, San makes his way upstairs living him all alone here. Wooyoung gets a deja vu feeling all of a sudden, being brought back in summer. He silently walks towards the living room and it's just like he remembers it, with the wall full of pictures, and the fireplace and the giant windows reaching the ceilings. So many things have happened during the course of just five months. They had their world tour, he and San got together and actually got even closer. It's like they've been friends for a lifetime, that's how Wooyoung feels and he takes a big part of his heart in this very moment. One thing he really hopes about them is for them to last as it would absolutely shatter his heart if they wouldn't.

Something warm and fuzzy touches his leg, bringing him out of his thoughts.

It's a ginger very fluffy cat this time, which is no longer smaller than San's palm. It's looking up at him, green eyes sparkling with curiosity while it sniffs him. Wooyoung doubts the cat recognizes him, so he crouches down cautiously and stretches his fingers towards it. White whiskers tickle him as Hae sniffs him more. He starts purring right away thought, which brings a wide smile up to his lips.

"Hello to you too." He runs two fingers across his head gently.

Dal appears out of thin air too, and she looks at him with the same curious eyes as her brother did. She isn't as fluffy as the ginger one, having a similar coat to Byeol, but she's still smaller, just like when she was a little baby in the summer. They are still cute, that's all he thinks so, without a single warning, he picks Hae up and snuggles him. While he does that, the gray tabby cat approaches carefully, but gives in and purrs loudly.

Heavy and rapid footsteps climb down the stairs. Wooyoung turns around and makes sure to give San a sweet smile when he sees him. He is holding Byeol tightly to his chest, who looks as perfect and pretty as always.

"Damn, he got big."

"And super fluffy." Wooyoung adds and rubs a spot underneath the cat's chin.

It's like he's brought back five months ago all over again, the only differences being the kittens which are now older and him not being so anxious as back then. It's nice, really nice and Wooyoung wishes this could last forever. He's been better these months, the meds are finally doing him good and he can't say he's been thinking too much about it anymore. He feels like a new person and for all he knows, Wooyoung has always been this way. There shouldn't be sadness in his life anymore, he deserves so much more after all he went though and sacrificed, so being able to live such happier days warms his heart a lot.

The two play with the cats a little, which turns into a whole hour just like that day and once again, it is San's mom who brings them back to reality. She goes straight to him, bringing him into a warm and very awaited hug to which Wooyoung replies right away. It's really nice, being accepted into such warm family so easily. It feels like he was meant to belong here.

Maybe having a soulmate actually exists. Maybe waiting for the right person really is worth it, that's all he can think of this evening. Even the first snow happens while being here and as he watches the soft looking white snowflakes fall to the ground in slow motions, with warm voices chatting in the background and filling the house, Wooyoung can't help but smile to himself.

He's really won in life this time.

THE END

I have concluded this book in the end. I am not very satisfied with the last chapter but I'll be honest with you, I don't really have ideas so that's why I shortened it 😭😭. I hope you enjoyed this story regardless, despite the not that well ending in my opinion.

As for the seongjoong book, I really want to write one, I'm currently thinking of a plot that will fit the whole aromantic Seonghwa plotline. When I have a fixed idea and a part of it written, I will announce it here so that the interested ones can find it easily. For now I have one ongoing story which I will be updating constantly from now on if you guys are interested and once again, thank you for reading this story really.

You guys are the best! 💞
