It was a month after Max had left for Seattle, and the Price twins have been settling with it just fine, though Chloe did feel kind of lonely at times when it came to not having a best friend at school. Flynn was good company, but she needed someone other than her annoying brother.
Blackwell didn't treat Chloe well, but one girl would always (the most she could) come to her defense. She hasn't come up to Chloe personally and vise versa, and it's been bugging Chloe.
Flynn, one day, had suggested going up to the girl herself. He pulled Chloe to his room, which was across the hall from her, and sat on his bed.
"Chlo, I know it's bugging you, and I don't know why because she's coming to your defense!" Flynn said, putting his hand on Chloe's arm.
"Yes, it's bothering me because she doesn't need to come to my defense! She's getting all the unnecessary trouble from Wells, and I just don't get it! First, that incident in science and then -" Chloe cut herself off and let out a sigh.
"Chloe -"
"Why do you even care? It's not even your business, Flynn!"
"It is my business when my sister is getting shit for nothing! Calling you a scholar kid and messing with you for nothing - It's not right, and dad agrees!" Flynn exclaimed, holding both of Chloe's arms.
Chloe appreciated that Flynn cared, but she didn't find it a priority for him, "Flynn -" she again stopped herself before groaning, "Alright! Alright, fine! Fine! I'll try to find her tomorrow and I'll talk to her..."
Flynn smiled, "Good, and also, if she's hot, can you get her to -"
"Alright! I'm not doing that! If she's hot, then get her number by yourself. You go to Blackwell too!" Chloe yelled, getting up from Flynn's bed.
As she was walking out of his room, she could still hear him laughing, Chloe let a smile come on her face as she would probably do the same thing. Maybe.
Tomorrow couldn't come fast enough as Chloe was outside on the courtyard of Blackwell. She debated on if she should even do what Flynn had suggested, but in the end, she did. She also wanted to know what this girl wanted to gain from always saving Chloe from getting into trouble.
Chloe glances around the property, she had seen glimpses of the girl's face, so she has a good idea of who she is.
"Chloe Price?" Someone said behind her.
Chloe yelped and turned around. It was the girl she was looking for. What a coincidence.
"Jesus, you scared the hell out of me!" Chloe said with a breathy chuckle, a hand on her chest.
The girl laughed as she apologized. Chloe couldn't help but analyze her. She was actually really pretty. Her piercing blue eyes, her black shoulder-length hair, and her adorable button nose. Chloe couldn't help it.
"Ah, Chloe?"
"Huh? Yeah? I mean, how do you -"
"It's not hard to guess, I've seen you around. You're a science nerd, yeah?" She chuckled.
Chloe, thankfully, didn't take it as an insult and laughed with her, "Yeah, I am, God, I should've known that you'd know that."
"I'm Lucy, by the way!" Lucy said, holding her hand out for a handshake, and Chloe shook her hand out of politeness.
"I don't need to introduce." Chloe smiled, making Lucy laugh.
"You're a bold one, I like it!" Lucy said with a smile.
"Yeah? I don't think so, I think I'm pretty funny, maybe sarcastic too." Chloe joked along, Chloe wanted to walk around, she asked of that, and Lucy agreed.
For an hour, they walked around Blackwell talking and joking around. Lucy and Chloe had gotten to know each other throughout the day as school went by painfully slow. Lucy had explained her reasoning's to why she was always taking the blame of Chloe's troubles.
Flynn noticed that Chloe hadn't come to him yet with the information he was promised to receive. Though he was annoyed, he didn't bother to look for his sister.
Chloe was shocked and didn't know what to say, mostly she was just wondering why she even asked her.
"But... But you...?"
"But - but - but?" Lucy mocked playfully, "I only ever had a crush on you for a while, and anyway, I hated seeing you get bullied like that -"
"But why do you take my blame? Like? Why?"
"Like I haven't been a trouble at home enough as it is," Lucy said with a laugh, "My parents don't care, they tell me to do what's right for others I care about and that's why I'm talking to you now, to get to know you."
"And... Because you like me?" Chloe asked, with an uneasy smile.
Lucy analyzed Chloe's aura. She seemed insincere and a tad nervous, which made Lucy giddy inside. Chloe was such an innocent person to Lucy, and it made her like Chloe more.
"I know I don't make sense right now, but honestly, it shouldn't matter because I'm telling you the truth." Lucy said, patting Chloe's shoulder.
"Ahmm, okay then." Chloe smiled, awkwardly taking Lucy's hand off her.
"Ah, sorry about that, I'm a touchy person."
"It's okay! Um, but how about we make a deal? I tell you when it's okay to touch me, yeah?" Chloe joked.
"Damn, Price, are you sure you're not dirty minded?"
"Blame my brother, he's the corrupted one, he likes looking at... Things." Chloe said, cringing at the fact that she knew this of her brother.
"Oof, God... Chloe! And here I thought you were innocent!"
"I drank my parents' wine once with my best friend once, of course, I'm not innocent!" Chloe said, "But... Don't get me near drugs... Uh, I hate that kind of thing."
"No problem!" Lucy said, "Why don't we get to class, yeah?"
Chloe knew she had three classes with Lucy, but she had never really bothered to talk to her before now. She learned that Lucy now lived with her older brother Frank, who lives in an RV, Lucy told her that her parents had moved out.
"So you lied to me earlier? About your parents 'not caring'?" Chloe said in a somewhat annoyed voice.
"Yeah that's because he doesn't want any authorities involved, and I just like living in an RV," Lucy said, "Even though we have to share a bed or I sleep on the ground."
"Oh god..."
"It's all good!" Lucy said.
It was now time for a class again, so they went to their separate ways for now and went to their classes.
Once school was over for the day, Chloe and Lucy walked to the main area, Chloe glanced behind Lucy and saw her brother (who was trying to get her attention for two minutes), and gave her a look that said 'Let's get home before we're lectured'.
"Hey, um, my brother and I have to head home, um, but we can hang out another time, okay?" Chloe said with a friendly smile, and Lucy returned that smile.
"Okay! Yeah, um, let me get your number, and I'll text you later." Lucy said.
Chloe nodded and handed her phone over, waiting for Lucy to put her number in. Chloe was so giddy that she didn't notice that Lucy was already done and handing her phone back.
"Yo, come on! We're gonna be late!" Chloe heard Flynn shout from a distance, Lucy laughed as Chloe rolled her eyes, getting her phone back from the girl.
"Yeah! Okay!" Chloe said her goodbye to Lucy and jogged over to her brother, walking out the door. Lucy watches as the twins bicker while exiting the school premises.
Lucy always knew she had a good feeling about that Chloe Price. And that feeling was proved right.
