Bowser could not contain his laughter as his ship elevated into the sky. The surface below began to shrink as he ascended like a merciless god. He knew where his next destination would be; back where his grand plan succeeded. His mega army would not be necessary for the job since his single airship could easily wreck havoc on Toad Town. Unbeknownst to the toads, Bowser had deliberately decided to delay his occupation of the Mushroom Kingdom capital despite annexing its hinterland and beyond. He had lulled them into a false sense of security. Plus, with any luck, he would capture the rogue princess and settle his feud once and for all. there was no Mario to save them, and what would Waluigi do? Talk him to death with his irritating voice?

"Sir, our scouts have detected no resistance ahead," one of his koopa generals reported.

"Excellent. This should be a breeze."

As the ship accelerated, he retreated to his quarters. They were remarkably humble; Bowser prioritised functionality over comfort since this was a military ship, but still, the plain bed and the bare- wooded table with a mere stool to sit on was on the cheap side for someone with almost unlimited power. "Kamek," he called. almost immediately a magikoopa popped out of thin air, bringing a temporay small purple cloud. "When we arrive, I need you to help create an intimidating impression. I would rather frighten those weaklings into submission than destroy valuable resources and manpower he he he."

"Understood Lord Bowser."

"Very good, my finest assistant. Now leave me as I relax."

Toad Town was doing fine in the day after Waluigi and Rosalina departed for the second time. Under Toadsworth's guidance, things seemed to be returning to normal. The castle was being repaired. It was a truly terrible task for some toads to remove the lifeless shells of their fallen comrades, but other than that, the task was reasonably straightforward. Toadsworth himself could not afford to feel positive about this, since their were still a handful of toads missing. These were not any normal toads, these were the Toad Brigade: the most formidable group of toads the Mushroom Kingdom had ever given birth to. To Toadsworth, and many other toads, their disappearance was just as baffling as it was concerning since they were rather harshly not invited to the wedding.Regardless, he was at least relieved that Bowser had left him and the others alone. 'Maybe this was something personal between him and Mario, and he had the decency to leave innocent souls out of this mess,' he thought to himself.

Oh how wrong he would be.

What was a nice, relaxing and sunny day had shifted into a cold, black one. Startled, he turned around to investigate the sudden change in the weather. He could hardly believe it. A huge, oak airship was looming over the town. The Bowser sculpture on the bow not only made it obvious who it was commanding the ship, but it looked like it would breathe a volcanic eruption out at any moment despite its wooden nature. A wave of terror swept across the town, leaving nobody unharmed. Screams could be heard in the many narrow and winding streets and toads ran around aimlessly like headless chickens, colliding with eachother almost every second. "Please calm down," Toadsworth pleaded as he attempted to soothe the crowd into a rather serene state despite the impending doom. There was only so much one man could do as his order fell on deaf ears. The ship lowered as if it were to take aim and fire, but paused only a few metres above the ground of the market square, although it still blocked the sunlight from reaching the rapidly growing crowd. Bowser emerged victoriously from his quarters, escorted by Kamek and an assortment of koopa troopas and goombas.

"Well, what do we have here?" Bowser said ominously as he focused his eyes on the frightened faces of the toads below. He nodded to Kamek who shot a huge beam towards the castle. The toads could only watch in horror as the stained glass portrait of Princess Peach shattered like a fallen vase. A beacon of hope, peace and prosperity was no more, and this effectively confirmed the permanent end of the reign of Princess Peach. Bowser laughed maniacally, his voice getting louder with every breath he took. He regained composure before clamly continuing. "That is but a taste of our fury. Do you yield?"

Toadsworth had no choice but that didn't stop him from attempting to negotiate. "Bowser, why are you doing this?"

Bowser growled before Kamek grabbed the defenceless toad with his wand, dragging him closer to Bowser. His face was inches away from the toad's moustache. Toadsorth could feel the heat of every breath the Koopa King took. He could hear his tough, fiery heart pounding at his ribcage, desperate to break free and deal with the ancient mushroom itself. Bowser's furious gaze refused to lose eye contact with him, his eyes narrowing in anger at that blatant act of disrespect and opposition.

"Because I am missing someone!" the koopa snapped. "I am looking for a princess. She has pale, blond hair, sweeping down to cover one of her eyes. She has soft, white skin and is dressed in a nice teal outfit. Most importantly, she is the last possible threat to my reign, so I need her NOW!!!"

Toadsworth trembled with fear, but he did not submit. "I do not know where she is," he said, anticipating punishment. Bowser's eyes lit with rage. "Liar!" he roared, almost blowing Toadsworth back down to the ground below. "You tell me where she is or you will ALL perish!" Kamek cast a spell on Toadsworth, causing him to shriek in agony and writhe around like a worm suspended in the air.

"Wait!" a random toad pleaded. "She left for Dry Dry Desert a day ago." kamek threw Toadsmorth to the floor, but he was able to struggle to his feet. He was battered and bruised. Furthermore, he was devastated that his silence would be in vain.

"ARGH!!!" Bowser screamed, causing many other windows to shatter. He couldn't find the toad amidst the crowd so he questioned aimlessly "Did she have company?"

"Y-Yes," a different toad whimpered. "Waluigi."

Bowser was gobsmacked. He felt ridiculous for actually showing mercy on the purple loser. It was clear that he wasn't actually useless at all. He clenched his fist, channelling all of his anger into it before releasing it since he didn't have anything suitable to lash out at. He turned towards a messenger koopa, ordering him to call for reinforcements. "Very well then, you shall all become my slaves, well the ones that survive anyway." He turned around, approaching his troops before yelling "OPEN FIRE!!" as hundreds of toads huddled in fear.
