Waluigi 2- The Quest for Redemption

Chapter 17- The Final Battle Commences

The four of them waited for the ships to approach them. The Gang-Plank Galleon was first, and lowered its anchor as the group hung on, slowly being lifted into the sky. They returned safely to the deck of the ship. Peach immediately noticed Donkey Kong and hugged him, his warm hairy body making her feel safe and at home. It was the happiest she had been since her big day was tragically ruined. 

Honk! Honk!

The group on the galleon turned around in confusion. To their amazement they saw hndreds of flying taxis. One of them approached cautiously, revealing Pauline to be inside. "Pauline?" What are you doing here?" Peach and Waluigi asked, eager to find out why the citizens of the Metro Kingdom decided to risk their lives for this.

Pauline chuckled, her dark brown hair blowing in the wind like ribbon. "Your toad friend returned, explaining that a certain Rosalina was in danger. I couldn't not help, especially with the whole planet at risk." Waluigi looked at the toad who could only smile in response. 

"Well I best give you all a special bubble," Waluigi said in response, preparing the wand.

Pauline smiled. "There's no need dear, these taxis are much sturdier than they look. Bowser is in for a shock when he finds out that these don't destruct easily," she explained as she prepared the secret cannons which emerged from where the headlights were located. Each taxi was identical, with four occupants: three gunmen and a driver, along with the twin cannon.

"Ok, well the offer remains," Waluigi shrugged in response.

"Lord Bowser! We have a situation!" Kamek explained, bursting into Bowser's room.

Bowser fell over in shock at this rude interruption. He was about to enjoy his freshly prepared dinner, yet now it seemed that his dinner was enjoying him as it smothered all over his stomach and face.

"Sorry sir," Kamek cowered as he hastily used his magic to clean Bowser's livid body. "there is a huge army approaching.

"What?" Bowser raced outside onto his balcony to a terrifying sight. He was stunned. he hastily re entered his room before shouting "Go and assemble the army now!" at Kamek. the magikoopa obliged, and immediately departed as Bowser headed towards the dungeon, where his prized possessions were waiting.

King K Rool stood above his army as he saw the countless battleships emerge from the lava land up ahead.  He gulped in fear. There were a lot more than he expected. Waluigi noticd the king's trepidation before snatching his megaphone away, preparing to address the entire army. 

"My fellow allies. We are in for a tough battle!" he exclaimed. "I can only thank each and every one of you for the bravery you will show today. Without you all, Bowser may still be ruling the planet but that army there-" he shouted, pointing at the slowly approaching threat, "is a sign that he is afraid. Of us! He is not invincible, Mario has shown that time and time again. But Mario is not here. He may not be dead, but he is not here with us, he could be in there for all we know," Peach looked puzzled. She was convinced Mario was dead, but she began to question whether he could actually be killed by some inferior troops. Waluigi continued, "As for that brother of his, he may be there too, although he is certainly not the priority," he joked. He could never destroy his dislike for Luigi, but he couldn't leave him to rot there, if he was still alive that is. "There is certainly someone in there that does need our help, a magestic princess that has a heart of gold. She never gave up on anybody, even me," he whispered those last two words with a hint of shame. "so we will not give up on her. We will emerge victorious, even those of you who may die, you will have given your lives to enable the prosperity of the multiple kingdoms on this planet, including your own!" 

This speech was greeted by thunderous cheering, which was so loud that many ships began to rock side to side. Waluigi smiled. he of all people had somehow rallied an entire army of multiple races. A couple of weeks ago he was the lowest of the low, but he had overcome his despair with the help of a very special woman. Now she needed his help.

Bowser stomped down the hallway of his dungeon, each step causing the floor to vibrate aggressively. he scowled at the thousands of toads whimpering in the cells before saying, "You will all be forced to watch as your last hope is extinguished, he chuckled. 

"What do you mean, you monster," Toadsworth said confrontingly. 

"You will see," Bowser cackled as many goomba guards were summoned before ecsorting the prisoners to somehere they had no idea existed. He slowly turned to the other cell, containing Daisy, Toad, Toadette and a newly imprisoned Yoshi. "Perhaps we say hello to some old friends of yours?" as he beckoned three almost lifeless figures to approach. Daisy saw two pairs of laser red eyes, along with another solitary one. She gasped in disbelief, along with Toad and Toadette who began to cry. Yoshi was too stunned to even react. 

"Rosie?, Mario, Luigi?!" There was no reply as the three possessed beings only stared into the cell, not showing any signs of emotion. Daisy could not believe it. Mario and her beloved Luigi were alive, but they barely seemed like it. 

Bowser grinned. "come, my minions, let us wait for the 'heroes to arrive',"

"What do we do now?" Yoshi asked. 

"We pray," Daisy responded. She was truly despondent. She had lost almost all hope. for the first time ever, she hoped Waluigi would come to her.

The battleships were so close to eachother now. Violence was seconds away from erupting. "Troops! K Rool commanded, "We must disembark now! Only a handful must remain on board."

"Don't worry," Pauline interrupted through the radio, we have you covered."

As the hoards of apes and crocodiles, along with a handful of yoshis landed on the ground below, the first bangs in the sky could be heard. Soon, the first ships fell, yet none of them were Kremling, Kong or metro Kingdom ships. The spell was working, and Pauline's confidence was justified. 

"Come on!" DK yelled at the top of his lungs. "To the castle!" They all cahrged towards the walls, which were a couple of hundred metres away. As they did, the gates opned, allowing heaps of minions to emerge, prepared to quell this outrageous attack with all of their might. 

The ground battle was about to begin.
