It was now the middle of the night. I laid tossing and turning for what felt like hours. I finally decided to get up, I slipped on a sweater that was neatly folded in the dresser of the room that I was stationed in. I opened the door, taking a peak outside seeing a light left on in a room nearby. I decided to follow the light, which inevitably led me to the kitchen. After some searching I found where the cups where kept, and I turned on the tap to pour myself a glass of water. I pulled a out a chair and sat myself by the counter, sipping on my water, reflecting.

The day I experienced was turning out to be real, I was half expecting myself to wake up from some coma or crazy dream at any moment. None of this felt real.

My thoughts continued, before they were interrupted by movement and footsteps near the entrance to the kitchen. I looked up, seeing a very sweaty and disheveled looking Wolverine. "Nightmares?" I asked sheepishly.

"So you really are a telepath, huh?" The man replied, pouring himself a glass of water before leaning on the counter across from me.

"No, I mean I guess not that I know of? The professor is convinced I am. I suppose it was just a lucky guess" I explained, my eyes focused on the condensation on the side my glass.

"hm ok" he replied, taking a sip of his water, "So you're why Storm came into my room looking for some clothing, huh?"

I choked slightly, clearing my throat before I looked up at the tall and, admittedly, handsome man that was stood before me "I uhm, I didn't know. It was just in my wardrobe, I assumed it was ok for me to just throw it on, I'm sorry, I can give it back" I stammered, starting to unzip the now that I realize, very oversized sweater.

"No no, I'm just messing with you. I haven't really worn it since my first day here, I guess they just ran out of fresh ones. Go ahead and keep it, it doesn't bother me none" The man gave a cocky smile before taking another gulp of his water.

"Oh, ok. Yeah" I chuckled nervously, zipping the sweater back up. "I'm (Y/n) by the way"

"Logan" He replied with a nod.

A short silence ensued before I began talking again, "so, uhm, what were your nightmares about? If you don't mind me asking?"

His eyes narrowed, his brows furrowing along with them, "Wars, lots of wars. Some flashbacks to deaths of people that were important to me" He clenched his jaw, before continuing "Just some of the batshit crazy things that have happened to me over the decades" he finished, speaking more casually now.

I took this new laid-back attitude of his as a sign to continue, "Yeah I guess that would do it" I replied awkwardly, sympathy pulling at my heartstrings.

The air wasn't necessarily tense, just awkward seeing as neither of us knew how to tackle the conversation next. I reflected upon his response before speaking "How many decades?"

Logan huffed, trying his best to think back, "Its all pretty foggy" His face now quizzical as he wracked his brain "I wanna say I was born sometime in the 1800s? That puts me in my 200s, not sure, you can do the math" He shrugged, bringing his glass back to his lips.

"Wow, you look good for a man in his 200s" I blurted out before realizing, I quickly looked down at my glass before continuing to speak, "Not in a weird way or anything, its just that you like, don't look old and frail? You've got a lot of muscle and look youthful is all I'm saying. Uhm, ok I definitely made it weird-"

"Its alright bub" The man chuckled, turning to put his glass in the sink, once he returned to his place leaned over the counter a faint smile rested on his lips. "Why are you awake anyways?" he asked.

"It's a lot, I don't think you'd want me to get into it really" I explained briefly, my face still warm from my previous statements.

"Oh come on, I told you why I'm up its only fair you tell me yours" He stated, raising an eyebrow.

I paused, before looking back up to meet his gaze "It's just a lot, I woke up thinking that my day would be normal, I guess I was feeling brave and wanted to investigate the chaos that was across the street. One moment of recklessness later and here I am, knowing things about myself I didn't know before and now I've been offered to become an X-men- It just doesn't feel real. I mean, a lot of life has never felt real, but I guess that comes with being a mutant? I just don't know what to do. I'm confused, excited, nervous, I just feel- everything all at once- Now I have this opportunity I don't know what to with it. I've tried so hard to live a normal life, but now its almost gone. What do I have to lose anyways? My house is destroyed, my friends are non-existent, my job is horrible, my family doesn't talk to me for whatever goddamn reason- I just don't want to make some big life decision that I don't think I'm good enough for-" I stopped myself, taking a breath, "I'm sorry that's a lot, I just don't know what to do" I clamped my mouth shut, looking back down at my glass.

"It's alright kid, don't worry I've heard a lot more from a lot of people worse off. Honestly, this school ain't half bad. There's people, housing, and every once and awhile we get to go out and kick some people's asses" He started, staring at you intensely as he spoke. "The professor has some kind of feeling about you, and honestly I trust him. Years ago he helped bring out some light in me, something like that. He helped me, and he wants to help you, he knows that you're capable of more than you know (Y/n), its just up to you if you want to take that step." He finished, his eyes locked onto mine with a determination.

I sat for a moment longer before starting again "Thank you Logan, that's honestly very reassuring and its given me more to think about, I appreciate it."

"Yeah don't sweat kid" he replied, watching as the tension and worry from my face started to disappear, "So, what'll your code name be?" He asked, leaning closer to me from over the counter, making me further realize his wolfy looking hair.

"I don't know, my ability lets me inflict extreme brain fog within peoples minds, hazing them over so much so that they can't do anything really, so maybe just that. Haze" I decided with a nod, "Also, don't call me kid, a few minutes ago I only thought you were a few years older then me" I stated, not wanting to be mistaken for some random teenager who just so happened to run into the X-men. No, I am a fully grown woman who just so happened to run into the X-men.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever" He chuckled, standing up from the counter and walking towards me. He patted my shoulder before heading to exit back to his room, "I'll see ya in the morning Miss Haze" he smiled.

"See you then, Mister Wolverine" I returned the gesture, turning back to my empty glass.

"I guess it is time for some new beginnings."
