Hank started to turn the jet around the jet, but what seemed like an explosion caused energy to ripple through the air, causing the power to turn off entirely. Logan and Scott, who hadn't yet been strapped into the jet were violently thrown against the roof of the jet as it plummeted. The turbulence was only momentary, and power was soon returned, sending the pair flying downwards once more.

"What the hell was that?" Logan demanded, glaring at the professor who appeared to be momentarily stunned.

"Hank, there's no time" He urged, "Magneto has activated the artifact. We must act now to save humanity."

A nod was seen from the blue beast, "Might want to strap in fellas," He warned, urgently turning the jet around, preparing to land.

They were quick to buckle themselves into their respective seats, the force of the jets movement jostling them. Logan secured his restraints with a grim expression, his eyes brimming with worry and anger. "When we get in there, I'm finding her" he declared with a determined.

"Good," the Professor replied, his tone resolute, "Help her deactivate the artifact. She will need to control what she is feeling and reverse the energy flow to sever the bond" He explained, "She will be weak, the activation process will drained her significantly. Depending on where she is kept, the distance between her and the artifact will have made her strain more."

Logan turned his attention to Scott, his expression filled with anger. "Where did you last see her." He demanded.

"The room The professor directed us to" Scott replied, "its filled with mirrors. In the center there's a platform, there must be a button or something that triggered her capture."

Suddenly logan received a mental image from the Professor, a vivid vision which led him directly to the door of the room. He gave a brief nod of acknowledgement, started to mentally prepare himself for whatever would come.

"We need to find Magneto, "The Professor said firmly. "Separating him from the artifact will be nearly impossible, so our priority is to eliminate any obstacles. I'll try to reason with him—I've come close before."

They had landed, the engine cutting off as the rear ramp was deployed. The team quickly exited the plane, standing at the base of the ramp scanned their surroundings, looking for Magneto. It wasn't difficult to spot him, he was floating directly above the entrance that had used to infiltrate the base earlier. His veins had a eerie red hue to them, the light intensifying near the dark metal amulet that was fused to his chest. It pulsed in sync with his heartbeat, sending waves of power through his body.

"Must be the Artifact" Logan muttered, nodding toward the amulet.

"Yep, this ones going to be tough" Storm responded, her stance casual, but ready for battle.

"We'll handle him" Cyclops nodded towards Magneto, "Wolverine, head down through the entrance, you know where to go."

Logan nodded a brief moment of understanding between the two, and the team took off running towards the heart of danger. The earth under their feet had begun to shake as Magneto started raise a gigantic metal pillar, meeting him at his feet. A maniacal grin could be seen on his face, and with a grand gesture he raised countless metal spikes from the ground directing Infront of the X-Men. None of them where anywhere near making contact, but few of them stepped back due to instinct.

"There is no point in trying to stop me, Charles" his voice boomed, reverberating all around them like a thunderclap, "Much like that girl of yours, your reluctance will only delay the inevitable."

His eyes flashed a deep red, matching the hues of the amulet. He raised a hand, forcing the professor out of his seat to hang limply in the air, "Erik, don't do this" the Professors voice cracked, trying to appeal to the little bit of humanity that may left inside of him.
