I stepped into the elevator, following the professors instructions. My shoulders were tense, nervous for my first training session, especially because of Logan and I's last interaction. The door started to close, before a hand shot in, stopping it and in stepped the man of the hour. My stomach dropped, my nerves really kicking in. My eyes dropped to the floor and I could feel the tension radiating off of him. The elevator dinged, arriving at the bottom floor. He stepped out and I followed in suit.
Once we arrived at the danger room, we headed inside a simulation turned on, displaying a training room. "I was half expecting you to just throw me into some crazy situation right away" I quipped, trying to break the tension a bit.
"Professor wants me to take it easy on you to focus on developing your powers. But don't think that we aren't going to practice combat today" he grumbled, turning his attention towards a masked figure that stepped into the room.
I perked up, feeling slightly more alert, "Uhm, who's this?" I asked
"It's whoever you want him to be. You better hurry up before he lands the first punch" He scolded, leaning against the wall closest to the door with his arms crossed.
Before I realized it, the figure was running at me at full speed. I narrowly dodged and tried my best to swipe my leg under the figure to trip him, but I was too stiff and missed, falling over myself instead. The figured returned, standing above me, a sword in hand and aimed straight towards my chest. I flinched, trying to shield myself, only for the figure to flicker and disappear. "If that were a real situation you would be dead" he scolded before continuing, "you're too tense."
I stood up and gave him a glare, "I wonder who's fault that is" I snapped, clenching my jaw.
"Figure out your own shit (Y/n)" He countered sternly.
"Oh you're such a big help Logan" I barked, continuing my hard stare.
"If you're going to be difficult about this we can stop, right now" he snarled, taking a few steps to be standing directly in front of me, looming over me.
I could feel the frustration radiating off of him, so much so that I could taste it. I returned his scowl, his face inches from mine. My fists were clenched at my sides, and I noticed him smirk, "Oh so now you're really angry, what are you gonna do, punch me?" he mocked.
"Yeah, actually I am" I retorted, raising my fist and nailing Logan in the nose.
I watched are blood dripped, but it quickly stopped. He whipped the blood away before running towards me shouting. He wouldn't cause me certain harm, I could tell he was bluffing. I jumped out of his way, once again slipping my leg underneath to try and trip him, this time it worked. I took the moment I had to run, gaining distance. The trip It didn't make him falter, and he continued up, trying to pin me. I took a moment and concentrated, feeding off of his anger, trying to absorb it and cause his mind to go momentarily blank, but to no avail. He caught me.
I was on the ground, pinned and he was breathing heavily. "You're going to have to figure this shit out whether you like it or not" He huffed, standing back up. He paused for a moment, looking at me on the ground before he held out a hand. I continued my glare, and got up myself, the simulation flickering and fading.
I slowed my breathing, my arms crossed and he was stood in front of me. "You're sloppy" he started, seemingly regretting his choice of words, "Listen, I know I pissed you off, but trainer to trainee you need to get ahold of your emotions and use em', channel them into something productive. As soon as you can start controlling your own emotions you'll be able to start playing telepath mind games." He explained gruffly, seemingly trying to lighten the tone.
My eyes stayed glued to the ground, arms still firmly crossed. "I'm going to have to push you (Y/n), we'll work on stance and reaction time, and gradually move on to more complex drills. It's going to be frustrating, and you're going to have to learn to deal with that and learn how to use it for your benefit" He persisted, softening slightly towards me.
"Okay" I responded, looking back up towards him.
"We'll pick up again tomorrow then" He added, nodding slightly.
"Okay" I breathed.
His emotions had been all over the place. At first there was nothing, his walls were up completely, then all I could get from him was anger, but felt it get pushed aside, I'm assuming out of obligation. Now his walls were going back up and all I felt from him was guilt. "Logan I think that our 'friendship' should just be this, that's it. I don't need you feeling sorry for me" I choked, locking eyes with him.
His gaze hardened, and his jaw clenched, "I couldn't agree more." He growled, walking away and out of the danger room.
