My mid term results were the most awful they've ever been in years. Of course, they had to send out the results a day before going home. Just in time for my parents to screw me for it. Just great.
I was still in the process of packing some of my stuff when my friends walked in, talking happily. They'd all gotten great scores in their exams. I could not have hated myself more in that moment.
"It's okay man. You were going through some shit. Everyone understands." Christian told me.
"Yeah, yeah." I mumbled. Allison sat down next to me, giving me an encouraging grin. "Relax Luke. Your parents know you're smart."
I sighed, still not all that convinced. I was more worried about this was going to look on my college applications. Hopefully, my previous grades can help make up for it. I'd already gotten chewed out by the guidance counselor though.
I only had two classes left in the day- chemistry and psychology. After that, none of us really had much to worry about, so we decided to hang out once we were all done with school.
"Hey, do you know the answer to this one?" I asked Spencer, not having a damn clue how to solve the question Mrs. Peterson had given us. He didn't respond however, and simply looked down at his notebook without actually comprehending anything.
"Uh, Spence? Are you okay?"
"Fine."
Sheesh. He was definitely pissed off at me. Although for what, I had no idea. The guy acted like an absolute drama queen when he was annoyed.
"Buddy, what's going on?" I asked him.
"Oh, I don't know. Is there something you want to tell me?" He said angrily.
I looked at him in confusion. Was he really mad because I wouldn't tell him my chemistry score? It was just too embarrassing to talk about. The only subject I'd even done well in this time was English.
I opened my mouth to speak, but before I could, he cut me off. "When were you going to tell me whatever the hell it is, that's going on between you and Jeremiah Evans?"
Holy shit. How did he even find out? I highly doubt Evans went around blabbing about it. The only other possibility was-
"What? You were awake? Seriously, that's the one time you actually wake up?"
"Don't change the subject. Also, you kissed some 'blonde guy' in the locker room? Was that Oliver?"
I shushed him, looking around to make sure no one was listening. "Yes, okay? Sorry, I was going to tell you. I've just been really confused."
He still looked a little pissed off. "I thought we were best friends man. Told each other everything and stuff like...bros, you know?"
"Spencer, come on-"
"Oh my god, it all makes sense now! That's how you got so good at lacrosse isn't it? You didn't practice on your own. Evans taught you, didn't he?"
I sighed. "Yes."
He looked more humorous now. "Holy shit. That's why you've been so moody. Woah, wait a minute, has this been going on the entire time you were with Jackie?"
"What? No! I'd never do that. I don't know, I guess I just started questioning things a few weeks ago. I never did anything. Except for uh- well, I wasn't entirely honest with you about what happened on Halloween."
Spencer looked at me curiously. I continued. "After I got completely hammered, I ran into Jeremiah. Let's just say I was super drunk, depressed, and in lack of any control of my inhibitions. So... I kind of tried to kiss him."
