The thought of Jeremiah Evans had completely invaded my mind.
No matter where I was, or what I was doing, my brain instantly went to him. I didn't have a single clue as to why. Every time I pictured his face, I found myself imagining his stupid, beautiful smile, just making me angry at myself. It was probably one of those weird 'longing for the popular guy's friendship' kind of thing. I wasn't really that kind of person, but I don't know. It all felt too strange.
Nearly two months of the school year were over now. The past few weeks had been pretty normal, with the usual cascade of homework, lacrosse practice and hanging out with my friends. Including the most important- hanging out with Jackie.
I think things were pretty much normal between us again. We hung out in the music room, ate lunch together and made out a lot. Essentially our usual routine since we got together.
The school day was over, and I was sitting in the library finishing my assignments as fast as I could. I'd just come up here since I needed the computer for research, and I'd stupidly forgotten to charge my laptop. Or rather, I'd been too lazy to do it. That doesn't make much sense, but oh well.
I had just about finished when my phone rang with a video call from my mom. I smiled, walking outside to answer it.
"Luke! I've missed you, sweetie."
I was greeted by the grinning faces of my parents, both of them squeezed next to each other to fit into the camera angle. I laughed. "Hey mom. Hey dad. I miss you too."
"What's new with you, son?" My dad asked.
"Nothing much, really. The last news worthy thing that happened to me was joining the lacrosse team."
"We're still so proud of you for that, honey. I knew you could do it if you just stepped outside your comfort zone." My mom spoke.
I simply smiled back at them, deciding not to mention the fact that I'd only joined the team for the sake of college admissions. However, if I'm being totally honest, I was really starting to enjoy it.
"What about that girlfriend of yours? How are things going?" My dad asked. I replied to him enthusiastically. "Things have been great, actually. In fact, I was just about to go meet her."
"Oh, we won't bother you anymore then, honey. Call me later!"
"Definitely. Bye guys."
I hung up and started walking back to my room, stuffing my books in my bag as I did so. I had just reached, when I was meet by a pleasant surprise.
"Jackie, hey. I thought we were meeting in your room?"
She beamed at me as she held up a box she was holding in her hand. "Then I wouldn't have been able to bring you your favourite dinner."
"Pizza from Larry's! You are the best, you know that?"
I pulled out my room keys from my pocket, opening the door to let us both inside. I threw my bag onto my desk chair and plopped down on my bed, gesturing for Jackie to sit down next to me.
We opened up the box and started to eat, using the lids of the box as plates. We spoke for about half an hour, joking around, talking about our days and everything.
"Isn't it a little weird though? Being on the team with your brother?"
I shrugged. "I guess. It doesn't matter much, since he ignores me most of the time. We haven't spoken since he basically told me to fuck off anyway."
She frowned, reaching out and holding my hand. "It's okay. He's just a jerk."
I sighed. "Tell me something I don't know."
She gave me a small smile at that, leaning in to kiss me. She gave me a small peck and pulled away, grabbing another slice of pizza from the box.
I don't know what came over me as I reached out, grabbing her by the back of her neck and pulling her in to kiss me again.
She made a stifled sound as she was taken by surprise, and I kissed her even harder. Maybe I wasn't ready for like full, complete sex as of yet, but we could still do something. Right?
I pulled her down onto my bed, flipping us over so I was on top of her. I continued to kiss her, the pizza box now forgotten on the floor.
I moved away from her lips, gently kissing down her neck. I felt relieved as she let out a soft, breathy moan. Thank god she was enjoying this, especially since I had no idea what I was doing.
However, as I was kissing her, the image of Evans randomly popped into my head again. Ugh, not now. What the fuck? I forced the thought out of my mind.
I felt her hands roam up and down my chest under my shirt, sending shivers through my spine as she did so. I pulled myself even closer to her, our hips now fully against each other. Holy shit.
I felt her tug on my shirt a little, so I sat up and pulled it off. I started to feel a little self conscious now, as her eyes darted up my half naked body. I didn't have a lot of muscle or anything, but I suppose you could say I was sort of lean. I only had slightly visible abs and somewhat noticable biceps, but it was enough to make me feel a little insecure.
The thoughts vanished as I leaned down to kiss her again, her fingers tracing across my back. Damn, who knew this stuff could actually feel pretty great?
I started to kiss down her neck once more, and was just about to ask if I could take off her shirt as well, when the door was suddenly opened.
I nearly jumped out of my own skin, pushing myself off Jackie to turn towards the door. Spencer was standing there with his mouth hanging open, a guilty and yet playful look on his face. He made a motion to cover his eyes, until he realised Jackie was still fully clothed.
"Jeez guys, couldn't you have put a sock on the door or something?" He frowned as he looked at the ground. "And why is there pizza on the floor?"
I blushed as I pulled my shirt back on and stood up, glaring at Spencer and trying to cover up my embarrassment. "Relax, I'll clean it up."
He walked towards his desk and started rummaging for something. "Don't worry guys, I'll just take my chemistry book and uh, get out of your hair."
Jackie stood up, fixing herself up as she did so. "It's okay, you don't have to. I just realised I've got homework to complete and submit. I have to go finish it now anyway."
She looked at me apologetically, giving me a kiss on the cheek before she left. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Bye."
I groaned, falling back onto the bed with my arms out. Spencer looked like he was trying not to laugh. "Sorry for cock blocking you, dude. But seriously, next time put a sock on the handle."
I picked up the remaining pizza off the floor and threw it at him.

I didn't have much else to do for the rest of the evening.
Spencer had fallen asleep surprisingly early, but I suppose it was because he was up all of last night, finishing his assignments at the last possible minute. I however, was still wide awake.
I texted Jackie for a bit, with a huge grin across my face everytime I looked at her profile photo. She's so incredibly beautiful, it's unreal.
Her thick, silky blonde hair, beautiful eyes and soft skin. Everything about her basically screamed- out of my league. She's even a very popular cheerleader and everything. She was so different from the rest of them. The others were simply snotty, obnoxious and hung out with my brother too much.
I replied to a few more texts from Oliver and Allison before deciding to try and go to sleep. I turned off my phone and got under the covers, the image of Jeremiah Evans far off in the back of my mind.
