Before I knew it, two days had passed, and it was time for Oliver to go back home. I wasn't ready for him to leave yet. I already missed the guy again.
He would be leaving sometime after classes ended, so I only had an hour or two left to spend with him. I almost wanted to skip class just to do that, but after missing English on Monday, I couldn't afford to miss another class this week. I still flinched everytime I thought of the memory of me crying in the music room, while Oliver held me. It was a little embarassing.
I was simply sitting in the math classroom, waiting for the class to start, since I'd arrived a little early. I took out my phone, scrolling through Instagram when I got a notification.
Hey. Haven't heard from u since Halloween. R u ok?
Holy godamn shit. It was Evans.
I hadn't even seen the guy since then, let alone spoken to him. I was still completely mortified over how I'd come on to him like that. I'm surprised he'd even messaged me at all.
Doing better, thanks.
He replied with a thumbs up emoji, and that ended the conversation. Jeez, even our texts were so awkward.
I managed to get through the rest of the day, but my head was still a mess. I hadn't concentrated at all during classes the entire day. If I don't manage to clear my mind before mid terms, I was royally screwed.
Lucky for me, at least I still had some hanging out with Oliver left to do. Even though I have to say goodbye to him as well. Ugh.
"Are you freaking blind?"
"Hey, it's not my fault the ball is so damn tiny!"
"It's regular size!"
I laughed as I watched Oliver try to catch the ball with his borrowed lacrosse stick. We were out on the empty field together, and I tried to reach him some moves. I wasn't much of an expert myself, but I'd become pretty decent.
We played for a few more minutes until he gave up, plopping down on the bleachers in defeat. I smiled.
"I never thought I'd see the day Luke Hawthorne became an athlete." Oliver spoke, still out of breath. I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah well, turns out I got some hidden talent."
"Totally."
We headed towards the locker rooms to freshen up and change. Normally, I always shower in my room after practice, but since it was just us two, I decided it would be fine here, rather than walking all the way back drenched in sweat.
I finished showering before Oliver, wrapping a towel around my waist before I walked out. I was pulling on my pants when Oliver finished, coming out of the shower with his towel around his waist as well. I raised my eyebrows when I caught sight of his naked torso.
He had some serious muscle business going on. Definitely a lot more than I remember. I have seen him shirtless a couple of times during sleepovers and stuff back home, and there was no way in hell he looked like this.
"Holy shit man. Since when do you work out?" I asked him.
He smirked playfully. "Since a year ago. I only go to the gym, I can't do the sports stuff. I know, I look awesome."
I rolled my eyes, picking up his shorts sitting on the bench and throwing them at him. "Put your damn clothes on."
He laughed, pulling on his shorts when I looked away. I started to pack my things, stuffing my smelly jersey into my bag. I paused, hesitating for a second before deciding to mention the elephant in the room.
