He grabbed a white, medium-sized sippy cup and stood up again. He shut the cabinet with his hand before standing up straight, walking over to the refrigerator and opening the door to grab the half-full carton of whole milk that was sitting in there.
He set the carton of milk on the counter and shut the refrigerator door before walking over to the cupboard and grabbing the small box of chocolate chip mini cookies on one of the top shelves.
Once he grabbed the small box of cookies, he set the box on the counter and grabbed the sippy cup and carton of milk. He walked over to the table to pour the milk into the sippy cup, careful not to make any overly loud or sudden noises to wake Levi.
He successfully poured the milk into the sippy cup with only a slight sound of the milk being poured. He set the carton of milk on the table, closed the cup, and grabbed the box of cookies. He quietly put the carton of milk back in the refrigerator as quietly as he could with a box of cookies in hand.
Just as he put the carton of milk back in the refrigerator and shut the door, he heard the sound of the younger one of their sons crying. He sighed and shook his head to himself as he knew he'd woken up the grumpy younger little boy.
He knew he didn't have time to grab anything else since Levi sounded upset and he needed to go back to the bedroom. So he quickly took the sippy cup and box of cookies in hand and walked out of the kitchen again.
He left the kitchen and started to slowly walk back down the hallway as quickly as he could, being cautious to keep his steps quiet so that he didn't disturb anything while he walked. He was walking quietly, but could still hear the sound of Levi crying in his room.
He had the sippy cup and box of cookies in one hand and carried Levi in the other arm. He walked into the bedroom and came over to the bed. He looked down at Levi's face and shook his head to himself. "Hey buddy, it's okay, it's okay. Daddy's here," he mumbled to the little boy as he sat down on the bed again.
He put the sippy cup and box of cookies onto the bedside table before shifting himself so he was sitting against the headboard of the bed. He continued to rub Levi's back and talk to him gently to soothe the little boy.
He looked at my sleeping form for a moment before looking back down at Levi in his arms. "Okay buddy, you're going to have to keep your voice down. Don't want to wake mama or else she'll be even more tired in the morning and that won't be good," he mumbled to Levi quietly as he continued to gently rub the little boy's back.
He scooted himself back on the bed slightly, so his back rested against the headboard of the bed and continued to hold Levi close in one arm and run his fingers through the little boy's hair with his other hand.
Reign looked over at Lionel on the bed and saw how he was feeling left out and missing the attention and love. He smiled sadly at Lionel before speaking again. "You're feeling left out, buddy? Come here, it's okay," he said softly to Lionel as he held his free arm out to invite the little boy into his lap.
He kept rubbing Levi's back as he said this to Lion. He knew the little boy was probably feeling left out, especially with his younger brother being held in his arms. Reign wanted Lion to come over for some comfort and love.
Once Lionel moved to cuddle into him, he wrapped his free arm around him and started to rub his back gently, like he had been doing to Levi. He smiled a little and pulled both boys closer slightly as he spoke again. "There you go, buddy. That better?" he mumbled to him.
He looked at the two little boys in his arms and smiled gently, knowing neither of them wanted to be separated from him at the moment. He sighed quietly and ran his fingers through both little boy's hair as he held them in his arms.
Lion spoke quietly "Daddy, why you don't cuddle me all the time?"
Reign's heart broke a little when he heard Lionel ask him that question. He looked down at Lion and gave his back a gentle squeeze. "Buddy, I would cuddle you all the time if I could, you know that. But I have to split my time and cuddles between you and Levi, you know that," he mumbled to the little boy.
He felt his heart break further when he saw how quickly Lionel moved away from him and back to cuddling closer to me. Reign knew he'd upset his little boy, but he didn't know how else to explain that he couldn't always give all his attention to just one boy. He looked down at Lionel, still cuddling against my side, and felt guilty that he'd made the little boy feel bad.
He still held Levi in his arms, but his heart was hurting from feeling that he'd upset his other little boy. "Hey buddy, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you. You know that right?" he mumbled to Lionel, feeling guilty and upset that he'd upset his little one.
He continued to rub Levi's back in his arms as he spoke to Lionel, but he still kept his focus on the little boy who was cuddled against me. He wanted to make sure Lionel knew that he didn't mean to upset him and that he loved him just as much as his younger brother.
"You know I care about you and Levi the same amount, right buddy? I love the both of you very much and I would spend all my time with you if I could, but I'm trying my best to balance my time between the two of you." he mumbled to Lionel, continuing to keep his focus on the little boy against me.
