"Get the kids out," I showed him the GPS tracker. Reign's eyes widened as he saw the GPS tracker in my hand, his protective instincts immediately kicking into high gear. "Jesus..." he muttered under his breath, his expression hardening. Without hesitation, he turned to Olympia and Azar. "Take the kids out immediately. Now."
Olympia and Azar didn't question Reign's order. They both reacted instantly, their gazes darting to where the children were playing further down the hall. Olympia swiftly rounded up Lionel, Levi, Valerie and Darius while Azar quickly hoisted Willow into his arms.
"What the hell is going on?" Azar grumbled as he held Willow close to his chest. His eyes darted back to me, the tension in his body increasing as he waited for an explanation. "Not now," Reign said firmly, his focus solely on me. He gently placed his hand on my shoulders, guiding me back towards my room. "We need to get you back in bed and figure this out."
Once back inside the room, Reign made sure I was settled in before closing the door. He returned to my bedside, his gaze fixed on the GPS tracker in my hand. "Who put this in your ear?" he asked, his voice a mix of anger and concern. He studied the device closely, his mind racing with questions and suspicions.
"It must've been the kidnapper," I told him. Reign's expression darkened at my words, his jaw clenching tighter. The mention of the kidnapper sent a wave of anger coursing through him. "Why would they put a tracker on you, though?" he asked, his voice tense. "Are they trying to keep tabs on your whereabouts?"
"To get to you, it's whoever is the snitch in your Mafia, I guess it's not over," I said firmly. Reign clenched his fists involuntarily, the anger and frustration building inside him. The thought of an informant within his mafia was a bitter pill to swallow. "I'll find them," he muttered through gritted teeth. "I'll find out who's behind this and make them pay, darlin'."
The doctor came in holding a gun up to Reign "Wrong again," the doctor said. Reign's head shot up at the sound of the doctor's voice. His eyes widened as he saw the gun pointed directly at him. Instinctively, he took a step back, his muscles tensing as he prepared to defend himself. "What the hell?" he growled, his eyes darting between the gun and the doctor's face.
"Don't move," the doctor warned, his voice cold and calm. "I wouldn't want to make things worse for your wife now, would I?"
Reign froze, his eyes narrow as he studied the doctor. His protective instincts flared, but he knew he had to tread carefully. He couldn't risk anything happening to me while the doctor had a gun trained on him.
"You know Josh was innocent this whole time, Azar killed an innocent man. You hired me a few months ago Reign, I was working with the Moralez Mafia in Asia for over years, they wanted you dead but instead targeting your wife was easier" The doctor spoke. Reign's mind reeled as the doctor continued to speak. The revelation about Josh's innocence, Azar's guilt, and the involvement of the Moralez Mafia was overwhelming.
His eyes flickered briefly to me, a pang of guilt and pain evident in his gaze. He had trusted the doctor, and now it seemed like that trust had been betrayed in the worst way possible. "Why?" he asked, his voice rough. "Why wait until now to make your move? Why target my wife, of all people?"
Azar's unexpected entrance seemed to catch both Reign and the doctor off guard. In a swift move, Azar was on the doctor, his hands wrapped around the man's neck, cutting off his air supply. Reign watched, his initial surprise giving way to a sense of ruthless satisfaction. The doctor deserved this.
"Don't kill him... Not yet," Reign said through gritted teeth, his voice a harsh whisper. "We need information first," Azar grunted in agreement, his grip on the doctor's throat loosening just enough to allow him to breathe. He glowered down at the doctor, a mix of anger and triumph in his eyes.
The doctor gasped for air, his eyes wide with fear and confusion. He looked between Azar and Reign, his face pale as he realized the dire situation he was in. "Now, you're gonna give us some answers," Reign snarled, moving closer to the doctor. "And you'd better hope those answers satisfy us."
"J-Josh's wife hired me, Josh found out on the wedding and he hired someone to kill her." The doctor said fast. Reign's face darkened at the mention of Josh's wife. The complexity of alliances and vendettas within the mafia underworld seemed to only continue to grow. "Why would she hire you?" he asked, his voice tight. "Revenge? Or something else?"
"She didn't like how close Reina was to Josh," he said breathlessly. Reign's jaw clenched at the revelation. The jealousy and pettiness of it all seemed out of place in the brutal and cut-throat world of the mafia. "So she targeted my wife because of her friendship with Josh," he stated more than asked. "And you were the one to carry out the plan."
The doctor nodded, a mixture of fear and resignation on his face. The reality of his situation seemed to have sunk in, and he knew he was in deep trouble. Reign exchanged a look with Azar, a silent communication passing between them. They needed to find a way to get more information, to expose the entire plot and bring down those responsible.
"But you want to know who Josh hired?" The doctor asked. Reign's gaze snapped back to the doctor, his interest piqued. "Who?" he asked, leaning in closer. "Who did Josh contact?"
"Why don't you ask the man right next to you," He chuckled.
Reign's eyes narrowed as he turned to look at Azar. The doctor's words sent a shockwave of surprise and suspicion through him. Could it be true? Was Azar involved in something more sinister than he had let on?
