"Yeah I know and I appreciate the both of you,".
"You don't have to thank us, Reina. You're family. What kind of friend would I be if I abandoned you when you needed help?"
"Plus you know that you, Reign and your kids are my family and family take care of each other." He said with a smile.
"I mean it's not just you that I worry about either. I may seem like an evil mastermind villain on the outside, but I do have feelings. So, of course, I'm going to worry about how you're feeling and if you and baby are okay."
"You are a softie," I teased as I rubbed Lion's head.
He rolled his eyes and huffed. "You're never gonna let that go are you?"
I shook my head. He chuckled. "You're impossible sometimes, you know that?" He crossed his arms and leaned back in the chair.
"Oh yeah," I laughed.
"Yeah, you are." He said with a lighthearted tone. "A very stubborn and impossible woman. But I guess it's good that Reign likes you like that."
"I know he loves the hell out of you and he'd be lost without you. You're a good thing for him. You and your kids. That man was a lost cause before he met you."
Later on, I was sitting in the waiting room with a couple of other women, still feeling slightly nauseous as I sat there and waited for the doctor to call me in for an appointment. I looked down at my belly and gently ran one hand over it, sighing quietly to myself.
I sighed and looked around the waiting room, my heart aches a little that Reign wasn't at the appointment with me. It wasn't that he purposely left me alone or didn't care about me and the baby, it was just he was simply distracted and forgot.
I remembered how he was in a rush to leave and take Levi with him that morning, so it wasn't surprising that he simply forgot about the appointment, but it still hurt that he wasn't there with me.
I sat there in the waiting room and my thoughts were interrupted by the sound of someone calling my name, saying the doctor was ready to see me. Once I heard the receptionist call my name and state the doctor was ready to see me, I got up from my seat and started to walk into the room where the doctor was waiting for me.
I walked into the room and saw the doctor sitting at his desk, looking at a few papers in his hand. He looked up when he heard the door open and watched me walk into the room. "Ah, good afternoon. If you could have a seat, please," he said to me politely.
"Afternoon," I replied gently before I sat down on the chair across from his desk as requested, and the doctor set the papers on this desk. "So, how have you been feeling lately?" he questioned me as he settled into his chair.
"I have been feeling a little nauseous but other than that I am okay," I said gently.
The doctor nodded his head as he heard me state that I'd been feeling nauseous but otherwise okay. "Nausea is normal when you're expecting, but it should go away the further along you are. Is it only occasional nausea or is it just constant?" he questioned further.
"It happens in the morning or if there's food cooking, it's weird," I replied.
The doctor nodded as I told him that it was just occasional nausea in the morning and around cooking food. "Food can be a trigger for some expecting mothers, so I'm afraid you'll just have to deal with the nausea around the cooking of food. But the morning nausea should pass in the next few weeks or so, I can assure you that," he explained to me calmly.
He watched me nod my head slowly and continued to speak after a moment. "And other than the morning and cooking-related nausea, you say everything else is normal with this pregnancy?" he questioned further, looking at me with a look of genuine curiosity.
"Yeah normal," I replied shortly.
He nodded his head once more in response to my answer, noticing that for a brief moment, I was distracted by something. He could tell something else was on my mind that was causing me to seem distracted, and he knew exactly what it was. "You seem distracted by something. Everything alright?" he questioned, looking at me with one eyebrow raised slightly.
"Yeah, I'm good,".
He watched me and could tell that I was hiding something from him. He didn't want to pry, but he wanted me to be honest with him. "It seems like something's on your mind, dear. You sure you don't want to tell me?" The doctor said to me gently, the tone of his voice implying that he was quite perceptive.
"Look, I am fine. Can you check if my baby is fine so I can see my other children," I said firmly.
The doctor sighed quietly at my firm response, understanding that I just wanted to see that the baby was fine and I wanted to get back to my children. He nodded and spoke again. "Very well, dear. Lift up your shirt so we can get to work on the ultrasound, please."
The doctor got up from his chair and walked over to the side of the table I was lying on, grabbing the bottle of gel on the table. He squirted some onto my stomach and began to spread it across my skin with the ultrasound probe.
He looked at the ultrasound screen as he moved the probe across my stomach, trying to get a good look at the baby. "Please bear with the coldness of the gel for a moment, darling" he mumbled as he focused on getting a good view of the baby.
I just nodded, the doctor continued to move the probe across my stomach with the gel still on my skin, looking at the ultrasound screen and trying to get a good look at the baby. After a few moments of this, he spoke again. "Just need to take some measurements of the baby, but everything seems healthy so far," he mumbled as he continued to look at the ultrasound screen in front of him.
