"I have her location," he said, cutting off the discussion. The others immediately fell silent, their gazes turning to him. Azar looked particularly surprised, his eyebrows raised in question.
"Where?" Azar asked, his voice taut with anticipation. "How do you know?"
"She sent a signal through her necklace," Reign responded, holding up the small gold charm to show them. "She's sending her location as we speak."
The team was visibly stunned, a mix of relief and surprise on their faces. Azar looked at the necklace, then back at Reign. "You're sure about this?" he asked, his tone cautious but hopeful.
"Positive," Reign replied, his voice firm. "She pressed down on the underside. It's a signal she and I have had in place for years. Whenever she's in danger, she uses it to send her location."
Azar nodded, his mind already switching into action mode. The others started murmuring amongst themselves, their faces filled with new energy and determination. This was the breakthrough they had been waiting for.
"Do you know the location precisely?" Azar asked, his gaze fixed on Reign. "If we can get a pinpoint on her whereabouts, we can start devising a rescue plan."
"It's a warehouse just outside of town," Reign said, his eyes now fixed on the map of the city spread out on the table. "It shouldn't be heavily fortified, but we need to move quickly."
Azar nodded, his expression set like stone. He looked around at the rest of the team, his gaze hard and decisive. "Alright, gather your equipment," he said, his voice authoritative. "We move out in thirty."
The team immediately dispersed, moving with a newfound sense of purpose. They knew time was of the essence, and every second counted. This was the moment they had been waiting for, the chance to get me back safe and sound.
Reign followed suit, moving quickly to prepare his gear. His mind was racing, a mix of worry, determination, and hope fueling his every action. He checked and rechecked his gun, his expression stoic, his mind focused solely on the mission ahead.
The team reconvened in the main hall, all of them geared up and ready to go. They looked a force to be reckoned with, their faces resolute, their bodies taut with anticipation. This was bigger than just a rescue mission now. It was personal.
Azar turned to the group, his voice strong and authoritative. "Alright, listen up," he said, his gaze roaming over each team member. "We have a location. Our primary mission is to retrieve Reina. Minimal casualties, maximum efficiency. Understood?"
The team responded in unison, their voices a chorus of "Yes, sir." They were ready. Ready to face whatever was awaiting them, ready to bring me home safely.
Azar's gaze lingered on Reign for a moment longer than the others. He knew the situation was personal for him. But he also knew that Reign was one of his best men. This knowledge didn't ease his concern, but it did give him confidence in the team's ability to succeed. "Let's move out," he said, his voice firm and final.
The team filed out of the hall, their footsteps echoing loudly in the silence of the night. The moon had just risen above the horizon, casting a cold, silvery light over the city. The team moved silently, their steps calculated and careful. They knew they were treading into an unknown, dangerous territory.
The streets were mostly deserted, only the occasional passing car or late-night pedestrian present. But the team moved with caution, sticking to the shadows, their eyes peeled for any signs of trouble. They had to be discreet, their element of surprise was key to their mission's success.
Soon, they reached the location marked on the map. It was a warehouse, just as Reign had said, located on the outskirts of town. It was situated in a largely industrial area, surrounded by other, similar buildings. This fact did ease some of the team's concerns, as it meant likely fewer people around to notice their approach.
They scouted the perimeter, looking for any signs of life or movement. There were no guards outside, and no lights on inside from what they could see. It was mostly quiet, the only sound coming from the occasional passing car or the quiet hum of machinery from a nearby factory.
"Looks mostly empty," Azar commented, his voice low. "A bit too quiet, if you ask me." The rest of the team nodded, their faces taut. Silence could just as easily be a sign of danger as it was of security. They knew they couldn't take anything for granted.
Azar gestured for the team to move forward, his hand signing for them to spread out in a wide formation. They did so, their steps silent, their weapons held ready. The tension in the air was palpable, the anticipation thick as they approached the side door of the warehouse.
The team was just outside the door, ready to move. Suddenly, a piercing scream echoed from inside the warehouse, cutting through the silence of the night. Everyone flinched reflexively, their instincts going on high alert. "That was Reina," Reign said, his voice taut with worry. "We need to move, now."
The team didn't need any more motivation. They surged forward, pushing through the door. The scene that met them was one of horror: the room was a makeshift torture chamber, with me strapped to a chair in the centre. My captor, the same man from before, stood over me, a sadistic grin on his face. There were various tools of torture scattered around the room, some blood-stained, others covered in dust. It was clear what had been happening in there.
The team froze for a split second, taking in the horrifying tableau. Then, all hell broke loose. Azar yelled out the order to attack, and the team moved into a well-coordinated assault. The captor was taken by surprise, his arrogant grin replaced by a look of terror. He fumbled for his gun, but it was too late. The team was upon him, their actions quick and calculated. Within seconds, he was pinned to the ground, and beaten into submission.
