Meanwhile, the boys were already exploring the living area, their small hands touching the furniture and decorations within reach. They had completely forgotten about their grumpy earlier demeanour, their curiosity replacing their tiredness.

They wandered around, their small forms darting from one corner to another, their eyes wide with intrigue. They mumbled and chattered amongst themselves, occasionally reaching up to touch any object that caught their attention.

Their giggles and whispers filled the air, adding a light-hearted atmosphere to the room. They seemed to have forgotten about the earlier events, the adrenaline of exploring a new place temporarily overshadowing any fear or upset they had experienced.

Willow, with her innocent curiosity and attachment to her older brother, quietly shadowed Lion's every move. Her small feet shuffled across the floor as she followed him around, her hands reaching out to tug on his shirt occasionally.

"I already miss our home, this never will compare till this is sorted out," I said to Reign and sighed. Reign looked at me, his expression softened with understanding. He knew exactly how I felt. The transition to the secluded villa was necessary for my safety, but it didn't make the feeling of displacement any easier.

"I know, it's tough," he responded, his tone gentle. "But it won't be like this forever. We're here for a reason, and it's to keep you and the children safe. As soon as it's safe, we'll be back home." He reached out a hand and gently touched my shoulder, a gesture of reassurance. "The boys seem to be enjoying themselves, though," he added, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his lips.

Both Lion and Levi darted about, exploring every nook and cranny of the expansive living area. They were like two little balls of energy, bouncing off the walls and furniture. Their laughter filled the air, the sound echoing off the high ceilings.

"Willow, be careful baby," I said to her gently as she followed her brothers. Willow, having found her footing, was now hot on her brothers' heels as they traversed the living area. Her small steps were a little unsteady at times, and she occasionally stumbled.

But each time, she quickly regained her balance, her determination propelling her forward. My words of caution reached her ears, and she slowed down slightly, her gaze shifting to me for a brief moment before she resumed her pursuit of her brothers.

Levi, noticing his sister's proximity, stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her. He waited for her to catch up, a playful grin on his face. Once Willow was within reach, he stuck out his tongue teasingly.

Willow, undeterred, stuck out her tongue in response, mimicking her brother's action. Her small arms flailing with the movement, she giggled softly. The interaction was lighthearted and filled with sibling energy.

Watching her interaction with her brothers, Reign chuckled silently to himself. He knew there was a special bond between all three children, even though Levi and Willow were still young. The love and loyalty they showed each other, often in a playful manner, warmed his heart.

"They're growing up so fast," he commented, his voice soft as he watched the children explore and play. "Seems like just yesterday they were just a few months old, and now they're already running around and chasing each other."

"I know," I said softly. Reign seemed to notice the pensive look on my face. He knew me well enough to guess the direction of my thoughts. His expression turned solemn, reflecting the same worry for Josh that I felt.

"He'll be okay," Reign reassured, although his words were more for my comfort than his certainty. "Josh is strong. He has our men watching over him. They won't let anything happen to him."

"It's not just that Reign, someone planned and murdered his wife, on their wedding day. Something must have gone on between them," I replied.

Reign nodded, his jaw clenching in response to my words. He knew I had a point. The circumstances around the murder seemed suspicious, and there was likely more to the story than they had been able to uncover so far.

"We're going to get to the bottom of this," he promised, his voice firm. "But right now, the priority is keeping all of you safe. Once we've ensured that, we'll start digging into the details and find out who's behind this."

As he spoke, his gaze travelled to the boys, who were now playing a game of tag, their joyful laughter ringing out loudly through the large room. Willow had joined in on the fun, her small legs trying to keep up with her brothers, though her little frame made her a much easier target.

Despite the situation at hand, it was a heartwarming sight. The boys and Willow were oblivious to the danger that had forced the family into this secret location. They were innocent and carefree, relishing in the simple pleasure of playtime.

As I retreated from the scene, the laughter and giggles from the children faded into the background. Reign watched me walk away, a look of concern on his face. He knew me well enough to understand that I needed a moment for myself.

He let me have my space, focusing his attention back on the boys and Willow, who were now engaged in a different game. However, his gaze flickered towards me occasionally, silently keeping an eye on me from afar.

Even as he played with the children, his thoughts were on me. He wanted to comfort me, to alleviate my worry and pain. But he also knew me well enough to understand that sometimes the best help he could offer was a silent, non-intrusive presence.

The boys, on the other hand, were completely oblivious to the undercurrents of worry that swirled around them. They continued their play, their laughter echoing off the walls and filling the room with youthful energy.

As night fell, the villa settled into a tranquil silence. The boys and Willow had worn themselves out with playtime and eventually succumbed to exhaustion, drifting off to sleep. Their small forms were nestled in their respective beds, their chests rising and falling softly in synch with their steady breathing.
