Despite his focus on the road and their safety, his mind was undoubtedly on Josh, hoping that their men could provide him with the protection and support he would undoubtedly need in the coming days.
The car continued to move, the silence inside broken only by the soft sounds of the children sleeping and your occasional whispers. As the city streets gave way to quieter, more remote roads, it was evident that the villa was drawing closer. The villa, hidden away from prying eyes, offered a sense of security and solitude. It was a place known only to the inner circle, a secret sanctuary reserved for moments like these.
As the car navigated the final turns and approached the entrance to the villa, Reign slowed down, stopping at the gate. He keyed in the security code, and the gates slowly swung open, granting them access to the secluded estate.
Once the vehicle passed through the gates, they closed securely behind them. The driveway snaked its way through the property, shielded by trees and lush vegetation, shielding them from any potential threats.
As the vehicle made its way down the driveway, the house came into view. It was a grand, modern structure, blending seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. The villa was designed with security in mind, and it was impossible to approach without triggering a multitude of discreet alarm systems.
The exterior lights flickered on, illuminating the property and providing additional security. Reign pulled up to the front doorstep, cutting off the headlights but leaving the engine running. He turned to me. "Stay here," he ordered his voice firm. "I'll check the villa to ensure it's secure before bringing you all in."
With a reassuring nod, Reign got out of the car, shutting the door softly behind him. The night was quiet, the only sounds came from the occasional cricket and the soft rustling of leaves in the trees. He made his way to the front entrance, taking a moment to input the security code. The door slid open with a soft click, and he slipped inside, disappearing into the darkness of the villa.
Leaving me and the children behind in the car, he made a quick sweep of the interior, checking each room meticulously. He moved with swift, precise motions, his senses on high alert. Every corner, every shadow was scrutinized, his eyes scanning for any signs of an intrusion.
The villa was as he had left it the last time he'd been there: empty and secure. The alarm system blinked green, indicating that no breaches had occurred. Satisfied that the premises were indeed safe, he headed back to the front door.
He pushed the door open, the soft glow from the security lights spilling onto his face. He approached the car, his gait steady and confident. "It's all clear," he said, leaning into the vehicle.
"You're gonna have to wake the boys up, I can't carry them inside," I said gently.
Reign nodded, understanding the predicament. He knew that even though the boys slept like logs, he'd have to rouse them from their deep slumber. Waking them from a peaceful sleep might bring about a grumpy reaction, but safety came first. "Alright," he said, reaching for the back doors. "I'll wake 'em up now."
With a gentle hand, he shook each boy's shoulder, their small bodies slowly awakening from their temporary respite. Both boys stirred, their eyes fluttering open, bleary with sleep, and their faces twisted into grumpy frowns. "Come on, boys," Reign coaxed, his voice firm yet warm. "We've gotta get inside."
The boys grumbled in protest, their bodies still heavy with exhaustion. They sat up, rubbing their eyes and yawning widely. The transition from sleep to wakefulness was a slow and reluctant one, judging by their grumpy expressions.
"Let's get going now, sleepyheads," Reign added, his tone a mix of sternness and affection. He gently nudged the boys towards the open doors, signalling for them to get out of the car. The boys stumbled out of the car, their legs still heavy with sleep. They rubbed their eyes and wobbled as they tried to find their balance. They yawned in unison, their small faces scrunching up in an all-too-adorable display of tiredness.
I stepped out of the car, cradling Willow in my arms, her small form still asleep against my chest. Her tiny hands balled up around the fabric of my shirt, seeking comfort even in her dreams. The air around the villa was crisp and cool, the night sky an inky canvas dotted with stars. The surroundings were quiet, the only sounds being the soft crunch of gravel underfoot as I made my way towards the house.
Reign led the way, his large strides covering the distance with ease. The boys followed closely behind, their small feet pattering against the path, still visibly groggy and disoriented from their abrupt awakening.
Their small forms weaved slightly as they walked, stumbling and rubbing their eyes. They muttered and grumbled under their breaths, expressing their discontent at being woken up from their peaceful slumber.
The villa loomed in front of them, its tall, imposing structure casting a long shadow in the semi-darkness. The entrance stood wide open, a warm, welcoming glow spilling out from within, a stark contrast to the darkness outside.
Reign held the door open, ushering the boys through and motioning for me to follow. The lights inside the villa were soft, casting a warm and welcoming glow throughout the expansive interior.
The open-concept living area was tastefully furnished with a mix of modern elegance and rustic charm. High ceilings and large windows added to the spaciousness of the place, the occasional shadows from the trees outside danced across the walls, adding an element of mystery to the atmosphere.
Willow stirred in my arms, her tiny limbs stretching as she began to wake up. Her eyes fluttered open, and she looked up at me, her sleep-filled gaze seeking to be put on the ground. Understanding her unspoken request, I carefully lowered her to the floor.
The floor was cool beneath her little feet, a stark contrast to the warmth of your embrace. She paused for a moment as if orienting herself, her eyes wide and curious as she surveyed the new surroundings.
