I had awoken the  quiet silence of the pokemon center bedroom. It was odd, yet familiar to me. We had adventured so much that this felt normal, but I hadn't felt normal in such a long time. Ash was still curled up next to me as I slipped out of his embrace and fumbled around my bag for all my pokeballs. No, it's better to just take a walk. I slipped on my jacket and shoes and headed for the walkway out back. Normally these walkways lead to the battlefield but that was not where I was going at this time. As soon as I was outside, I opened and let all my partners out of their respective pokeballs. Out came Braixen, Pancham, Gardevoir, Popplio and Sylveon. Five partners and only one from this region. It was making me emotional to have to say goodbye to a few partners. Alas, I knew I had to if I wanted to become a trainer like Ash is. I looked at all of them, trying to hold back tears, "Let's take a walk, shall we?"

We walked down the path past the battlefields, and down the beachfront. Eventually I worked up the nerve to speak to them, "You all know how badly I want to become a trainer just like Ash. That means working with the pokemon from these beautiful islands like Popplio." Popplio clapped his seal hands and barked excitedly when I mentioned him. "I am going to have to send a few of you back home. Pancham and Braixen, You'll go home to my mother. She'll have lots of room for you. You'll be back home in Kalos anyway. Sylveon, I think it is best for you to go to Kanto where all of Ash's pokemon are. You liked being with them all anyway." I started to tear up as I sat down on the beachfront's white sand. The moon had illuminated the beach quite well and it wasn't hard for the other pokemon to see that I was having trouble keeping it all together. Sylveon wrapped one of her ribbons around my wrist and with her powers gave me a sense of feeling a lot better. It was as if she was telling she and the others had understood my motives behind my decision. "It wont be forever. We will all see each other again, I promise. Just while Ash and I take on the island challenge of Alola." They all seemed...content, happy even. Pancham was fist bumping the air, and Braixen was twirling her fire staff happily. Sylveon still had a ribbon around my wrist as I stood back up.

"Well, I guess this is our last night together for awhile. I will miss all of you! I didnt want to send you all away without telling you why I am doing this. I want to find what makes me happy. I think being a trainer like Ash is possibly the road I want to go down. If not, then we will all be together again regardless." All of the Pokémon had enveloped me in a hug of sorts. The biggest being gardevoir. I couldn't help but now feel like this was the right choice, at least for now. I smiled as we all retracted from each other. "Lets walk for a bit. I don't want to go back to the Pokémon center yet anyway." They all chimed in with their respective calls as we walked further down the beach.

The sand was unlike anything I had experience in Kalos or Kanto. Even with shoes and socks on, it almost seemed to make its way into my shoes without any effort. It was nice, but I am sure given enough time it would definitely be one of those things to annoy me as well. We saw many pokemon on our walk. Some new faces, and some old ones I had recognized. I see now how this all excites Ash. The new experiences, the new potential for partners, the new and unrealized threats out there. It was all unnerving, yet exciting. I couldn't wait for this adventure to begin.

Soon, we had circled back towards the pokemon center. It wasnt all smooth though, as a figure had appeared out of nowhere in the dark. I couldnt make out the person, but the voice was indistinguishable, "Prepare for trouble," a feminine voice had said. I knew immediately who it was. Jessie, from Team Rocket.  "Drat, I forgot those other two morons are away on a different mission. No matter, I can still capture this brat's pokemon." She threw out a pokeball and out came her familiar companion, a Gourgeist, the evolution of Pumpkaboo. "Sweetie, use shadow ball!" That is when a dark orb illuminated the beach and came hurling at us. I had no time to react, so I commanded, " Gardevoir! Use Moon Blast!" My shiny gardevoir dodged the attack and instead charged up a beam that seemed to come from the moon itself. Then she had focused the beam on our opponents and sent the hurling off into the night, "Team Rocket Blasts off again!!!!" I could hear it growing fainter and fainter.

I ran up to and hugged my new guardian. I was used to Ash and his pokemon always coming in for the saves. This was different, it was scary having to rely on my own instincts. I don't even know how I did it. I just...did. I didn't know the pokemon's moveset. It was almost as if it weren't me commanding the team. It felt...surreal. It also felt like a thrill. A thrill that was scary, but almost addictive too. It all made sense now. This is why Ash does what he does. Maybe I can get used to this feeling. I pulled back from Gardevoir and thanked her for the assist. Then I called out to the other's "Lets get back to the pokemon center quick! I don't think I can do that again." With that command, we all rushed back to the pokemon center and back to our guest room. I took off the jacket and shoes before slipping back into the bed with Ash and looking at my pokemon, "Goodnight everyone!'
