As we all reached the outdoor battlefield, Professor Oak came out to watch the battle. I recognized him right away when he came out. He handed Gary a pokeball, which I'm assuming held a Charizard. Ash and Greninja greeted the professor then headed to their spots on the battlefield. Prof.

Oak approached me, "Ah, Serena, nice to see you back in Kanto after so long." I smiled and felt my cheeks warm up, "You remember me?" The professor nodded, "I remember all the kids who came to my summer camps over the years. Plus, I remember I could not separate you and Ash for the life of me." He laughed at his last remark. I shyly looked away, "I guess Ash has loved me all this time." The professor chimed in, "Right before he left to explore Kanto, he asked me where he could find you. His plan was to take Pikachu and head out to find you. Unfortunately, I knew you weren't in Kanto anymore so I told him I didn't remember you so he wouldn't get too upset." I replied, "I see. I guess I'm glad I saw him fall off prism tower in Kalos then." The professor and I just laughed as though we hadn't just discussed an event that could've killed Ash. "Ash has gotten himself into a lot of near-death experiences in his travels. That wouldn't be the first time and I doubt it would be the last," The professor said, almost warning me that Ash might have something happen to him.

I turned and saw that Ash and Gary had already begun their battle. Charizard had not mega-evolved yet and Greninja and Ash didn't form to one yet. This meant the battle was just beginning. "Ash! Don't merge with Greninja yet! Let me get my camera," The professor yelled out as he ran towards the lab. I kept watching the battle. Ash nor Gary would try using any critical moves yet. Probably because they were waiting for Oak. Pikachu was watching intently by my side, almost wondering why neither side was doing any real damage to their opponent. "Pikachu, why don't you climb up here," I said as I extended my arm for him. I explained that Gary and Ash were waiting for Oak to come back before they get into a serious battle. He seemed to get the point after some explanation. I watched the two just keep on doing what they were doing when suddenly I heard Oak come running out of the lab. He held a large camera, it was probably a little old as well. He yelled to the two to keep battling.

This is when Ash made Greninja use his water-shuriken move. It landed on Charizard and sent him back towards Gary. Gary returned with using dragon claw, a move I had only seen once on TV before. This Charizard must be especially well trained. Oak had started recording and not too soon after he did, Ash and Greninja combined as one. The water vortex surrounded Greninja but you could still see the prominent features of Ash-Greninja. The red spikes that protruded from the Pokémon's head were hard to mistake. I could see that look of determination on Ash's face. It's been so long since I've seen that look. Every trainer he's battled recently has been a beginner, so Ash and Greninja rarely use their full potential. This is the first time I've seen it since Kalos.

The battle kept raging on. You could see that no side was gonna back down anytime soon. However, by the looks of the Pokémon, Charizard has received a substantial amount of damage. Greninja doesn't look like he's taken any. He's as fired up as when he and Ash combined as one. It looked that, even though neither side wanted to back down, that this battle would soon come to a close. Charizard had just been hit too much to go on much longer. Right then, Ash and Greninja used one more water-shuriken and it impacted its target. This sent Charizard flying through the air and when he crashed into the ground, a huge wave of dirt and dust went flying. After it cleared, you could tell who was the victor. Charizard had fainted, and the water vortex surrounding Greninja disappeared. Ash and Greninja both fell to their knees. This battle must have caused some exhaustion. Especially since the two hadn't used their bond in awhile that I know of.

Gary walked up to the fainted Charizard, gave it a compliment on its battle, then returned it to its pokeball. I ran up to Ash, gave him a kiss and hugged him. Victory kisses were a close second to the most passionate of kisses. The best was definitely the private bedroom kisses. The ones where they last so long, you have to catch your breath afterwards. I find myself craving those more day by day. I'll settle with the victory ones for now, though.

After our kiss, I followed Ash as he walked up to Gary. The two shook hands and Ash spoke up, "I expect nothing less than a great battle from the new Pallet Town gym leader!" Gary and I seemed to be taken aback. That was when Ash pulled out the key given to him for the Pallet gym. He handed it to Gary, "Since I'm leaving Kanto, I want the gym in good hands until the day I return, got that?" Gary smiled and took the key, "Got it, Ashy Boy. I'll be a better gym leader than you ever have!" Ash laughed, "Same old Gary. Just make sure to teach them a bit as well as giving them a fair battle. These are people who more than likely just got their starters from your grandfather." Gary nodded, "Yes, Ash, I'm aware. I'll take care of the gym until you return" Bring back some interesting Pokémon from Alola for us, will you?" As Ash and I started to leave, he replied, "I've got 4 slots open for my Alolan team. You can count on it Gary!" With that, we left Oak's lab and started to head home to pack. I cant wait to see what's in store on the road ahead!

That concludes Chapter 7. We are nearing the arrival of Ash and Serena in Alola! Which Pokémon do you hope to see? What Alolan characters are you excited about seeing in the coming chapters? Wait and see, you won't want to miss it!
