Danielle
I stood outside the imposing double doors of Haerin's office while waiting as Hyein had gone in ahead of me. My nerves were still through the roof at the thought of meeting her again (even though we've done more than just meeting each other), I'm still not used to it since we don't see each other every day.
The door opened and Hyein went out from it. "She's still on the phone, but you can go in now," the younger gestured for me to enter the place.
When I got inside, I feel shaky and unsettled for some reason. I was about to call out Hyein when I realized she'd already left, meaning I was going to be alone with Haerin.
I walked further into the office and was blown away by how sleek and modern it looked. The place was mostly done in black and gray that's been giving it a cool and sophisticated aura. The walls had some abstract art with bold strokes and metallic touches which added a bit of flair. The lighting was soft and warm and it made everything look cozy.
In the center of the room was a big, dark desk, polished so well it was shining. Behind it was a big fancy black leather swivel chair that matched the room's look. But it was empty, Haerin wasn't in her seat. Where is she?
I heard a quiet murmur speaking and followed it. And there I spotted Haerin's tall figure in the corner looking busy and talking on the phone. She was gazing out at the cityscape through the glass wall while sipping her whiskey. Her back was facing me so I couldn't see her face.
"Yes, I know," I heard Haerin say in a serious tone with whoever she was speaking to on the phone.
My attention drifted to her wide back and broad shoulders. I was kind of impressed how she still look so attractive even from her back and I wonder how the marks my nails left there when we were... No, no, don't go there, Dani. Now is not the time for it.
I suddenly snapped out of my stupid thoughts when she turned around and I was greeted by her strict and non-friendly handsome face. But when she realized that it was me, she looked slightly surprised then flashed me a toying smirk. I couldn't hold a longer eye contact with her so I broke the contest.
"Let me see what I can do. I'll hang up now." Haerin ended the call and took a last sip of her drink then started walking towards me.
With every step she took, my heart pounds a little faster feeling like it might leap out of my chest at any moment.
"You're here," she said in a low voice. She reached out for me but I quickly shoved the files against her chest I had been carrying the entire time, lowkey dodging her touch.
"Here are the important documents Miss Kim told me to send to you," I intentionally emphasized the 'important' word since that was mainly the reason for my sudden visit.
Haerin looked down upon it and took it from me, "I almost forgot about these, thanks for bringing them over." she turned back to her desk and tossed them as if they were just any ordinary papers.
Are those really important? Because from the way Haerin's acting right now, she doesn't seem interested at all and didn't even bother checking it out. Does she know how I went through all that trouble to deliver it just for her to toss it aside like it was nothing?
Forget about it, I'm done here so I should probably go.
"Since that's all I was asked to do, I'll be heading out now," I let her know I'm gonna have to leave. I turned my body from her and was just about to make my walk out of her office when her voice suddenly came.
