"Are you alright?" Lando asked, glancing over at Aimee for about the hundredth time, she was surprised he hadn't crashed yet given he'd spent more time looking at her than the road.

"I'm fine, I promise." She nodded, giving his arm a squeeze. "If I'm not, you'll be the first to know."

"Okay." Lando nodded, still sounding unconvinced.

"Honestly, stop stressing." Aimee reassured him. "If I didn't want to be here then I wouldn't have come."

"I know, I know..." he mumbled. "It's just after last time..."

"This isn't the same." Aimee reminded him. "Tom is safely locked up somewhere in another country."

"Long may that continue." Lando muttered as he pulled the car into a parking space.

Aimee chose to ignore that comment. Tom was still a very sensitive subject with Lando, so she tended to just steer clear of it as much as possible. He didn't need to be thinking about that right now.

"Do you want me to go in first? Looks like Oscar and Lily are here already." He motioned with his head to the other McLaren parked a couple cars down from them.

Aimee shook her head. "I'll come with you.... If that's okay?" She hesitated.

"Of course it is." Lando grinned at her. "Let's go, I have surprise for you when we get in."

"Lando..." she groaned. "I hate surprises."

"I know." He laughed, getting out of the car and opening her door for her. "But you're going to love this one."

She took his hand as she climbed out of the car, being careful to keep a smile on her face as they made their way past the crowd of fans waiting by the paddock entrance.

Lando stopped to sign a couple of things, but didn't linger for too long. They were already running late and despite Aimee's insistence she was fine and it was something she was going to have to get used to, her bone crushing grip on his hand suggested she might not be as okay as she claimed.

So he'd ushered her through the turnstiles with a last wave to the fans, promising he'd come back later, and the pair of them had stepped into the relative peace and quiet of the paddock.

"Are you okay?" He asked quietly, wrapping an arm around her waist to pull her into his side.

"You're banned from asking that question again for the rest of the day." She rolled her eyes at him.

"Sorry." He laughed, pulling her along in the direction of the hospitality. "Now, come on. It's time to go find your surprise."

Aimee groaned. "Can't you just tell me what it is now? I hate surprises."

"So you keep saying." He laughed. "How about thank you Lando for getting me a lovely surprise?"

"I'd need to know what it was first." She rolled her eyes at him. "Then I'll decide if I'm thanking you or killing you."

"You'll love it, I promise." He reassured her.

Aimee didn't have time to try and ask him again, because as she walked through the front door of the hospitality area she was greeted by both her parents, Sophie and her husband Marc.

"Oh my god." She gasped. "What are you all doing here?" She looked back at Lando.

"I told you that you'd love it." He grinned, kissing her forehead quickly. "I have to go, I'm late for the briefing, but I'll catch up with you guys later?"

Aimee turned and wrapped her arms around him. "Thank you. How did you even get them all here? I only decided I was coming the other day."

Lando just laughed quietly, reluctantly untangling himself from her as someone waved at him to hurry up. "Don't worry about it, I'll see you in the garage in a bit?"

Aimee nodded, kissing him. "I love you." She whispered, eventually releasing him and laughing as he bounded off in the direction of the briefing.

"I can't believe you're all here." She turned to her family in utter disbelief.

"We couldn't believe it either when Lando called me yesterday." Sophie laughed, wrapping Aimee in a hug.

"I don't understand how he managed to do all of this." Aimee shook her head.

"He loves you, sweetheart." Aimee's mum smiled. "He called and said you were thinking about coming back to the track to watch this weekend and he wanted us all to be here to support you while he was in the car."

Aimee couldn't help the tears that welled in her eyes, Sophie chuckling as she passed her a tissue. "I think that might be the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me." Aimee choked out. "I'm so happy you're all here."

"Please, please tell me you're going to marry that boy someday." Sophie asked. "Because you'd be an absolute idiot to let him go."

"Agreed." Her dad chimed in.

"I think Dad might not quite be over the fact that his daughter is dating the Lando Norris." Sophie giggled. "But in this instance, he's still not wrong."

"It's not that." Her dad interjected. "Although if he wants to keep inviting me to watch him race to win me over I'm not going to complain... but he loves you, Aimee. You look so happy with him, you never looked like that with-"

"You can say his name." Aimee rolled her eyes at her dad as he abruptly stopped talking.

"We don't need to talk about him." Her dad shook his head. "All that matters now is you're safe and happy, and you found someone who loves you the way you deserve. We'll always be grateful to Lando that he was there for you when we weren't."

"Oh Dad, please don't cry." Aimee shook her head, wrapping her dad in a hug.

"I'm proud of you, kid." He mumbled as she eventually released him.

"Shall we give all this emotional stuff a break and head down to the garage?" Aimee proposed. "I can introduce you to the rest of the team, Oscar is around somewhere I'm sure."

"Lead the way!" Sophie cheered, linking arms with Aimee. "I can't believe I'm actually here!"

"I can't believe it either." Aimee shook her head. "He's a sneaky bugger when he wants to be. I had absolutely no idea."

"He loves you, Aimee. Just enjoy it. You deserve it." Sophie grinned at her. "It's about time you were happy."
